NeurIPS is done 🎉

It was nice to be back at the conference, which was 2.5 times bigger since I last attended in-person back in 2019 as the organiser of NeurIPS Creativity Workshop.

This year, I was co-chair of the #creativeAI track together with @marcelosco, @priyascape and @alanyttian. We saw 93 accepted papers and artworks presented across 4 poster sessions and 4 panels. In addition, I mentored at the 20th Women in Machine Learning Workshop and gave an invited talk at GenProcc Workshop organised by Wei-Yao Wang, PhD.

Thanks to all the artists, researchers, designers, technologists who came out to San Diego for the #NeurIPS2025 conference to present their work. We saw people bring along musical instruments, chess boards, shells and chairs as part of their AI-related projects. It was so much fun 😍

Back home after an intense week running the @cvpr.ai.art gallery in Nashville, where we displayed 16 individual projects, 57 videos on 10 screens and a total of 102 projects online 🤖👀

The diversity of projects and the creativity of artists never ceases to amaze me when I run these open calls - we had everything from flower robots displaying emotions to windmills made of screens and apples rotting (diffusing) in soil 🍏

Thank you to all the artists who participated in the online and on-site galleries and showed up in person from across the world, making this a very special part of CVPR.

P.S. Next year we go to Denver, Colorado 🤓

ECCV Art Gallery is done now ✅

Thanks to all the artists who participated in the show, both in person in Malmö or through video submissions. We were grateful to host such a variety of artistic interpretations and engagements with computer vision.

Congratulations to the best artwork award winners @sonia.bernac @george_cazenavette and Xueqin Peng for outstanding work and presentation.

Thanks also to my co-organiser @yr_data for the collaboration, hard work and the invitation to put on a proper gallery at ECCV.

A visit to South Korea earlier this month for #icml2026 🇰🇷

This time I got to try on the hanbok, visit the tombs of Gyoengju and eat way too many dishes.

CVPR Art Gallery 2026 is now done ✅

114 online gallery pages, 80+ videos displayed on screens and 24 individual installations at the conference was a lot to organise, but the countless positive comments were worth it.

Thank you to all the artists who came over to Denver to showcase their work and a special shout-out to the three award winners:

🛌🏼 Rest! by Avital Meshi (@avitalix) & Dorte Bjerre Jensen. This first ever performance piece at CVPR Art, with the artist Avital Meshi resting on a mattress for the duration of the gallery's opening hours provoked many curious thoughts and reactions from conference attendees, left as notes beside the artist.

🗿 artefact(s): LeNet-1 by Nick Oh and Alex Park (@socius.labs) . This sculpture demonstrates the workings of Yann LeCun's 1989 LeNet convolutional neural network in a physical form. Alas it got stuck in customs, but we will figure out a way to display the installation elsewhere, watch this space.

🖌️ DreamBrush by Sun Chuánqí (far_behind) and Yuhan Wang for best artwork presentation. Whenever I passed by, this project was always crowded and for good reason: using a calligraphy brush and water you could write a word on canvas, which as the marks fade would be depicted in the Chinese painting.

Thank you to Nicole Finn, Walter Scheirer, Darren Nelson, Art Ramirez for helping to make the gallery happen and to the CVPR community for the warm reception year after year 🥰

We will be back at #CVPR2027. In the meantime, if you missed out on submitting artwork this year, I have a similar open call for #ECCV2026 until 14th June, see link in comments.

“Seeing Machines: Luba Elliott on the 2026 CVPR Art Gallery” by Luba Elliott @elluba

Elliott is once again curating the Art Gallery @cvpr.art at the Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR) conference, a leading annual gathering for computer vision and deep learning research. Elliott is exhibiting two dozen works at the forefront of creativity and AI on-site at Denver’s Colorado Convention Center (June 5–7, 2026) and 114 online at the CVPR 2026 Art Gallery. The curator speaks with three shortlisted artists about their creative and conceptual approaches to AI: Nick Oh & Alex Park, Avital Meshi & Dorte Bjerre Jensen, and Xia Liu.

The views from @adobeUK London are top 🔥

I was thrilled when Laura Herman was able to secure us this space as the venue for my latest #LDNCreativeAI meetup.

We heard from:

🖼️ Aaron Hertzmann (@aaronhertzmann) from Adobe (@adobe) who visited us from the US to talk about Per-Fixation Perspective in Art and Photography

♟️Vivek Veeriah from Google DeepMind (@googledeepmind) presented on generating creative chess puzzles, a paper from the NeurIPS Creative AI track that I co-organised last year.

🎥 Gabriela Tropia (@gabrielatropia @csm_news) showed us part of her film 'Organising Principles of Experience' and talked about digital necromancy.

Thanks to all those who attended and to @laura.herman and @adobeuk for hosting and providing pizza.

ECCV 2026 will have an art gallery 😍

We are excited to launch an open call for artworks:

✨ created with novel computer vision techniques
💎 reusing traditional computer vision techniques in original or unexpected ways
👀 presenting a critical perspective on computer vision techniques and applications
🧩 exploring the intersection between images and other modalities (text, sound, …)

Accepted artworks will be exhibited onsite at the #ECCV2026 conference in Malmö, Sweden between 10-12 September. There will also be an online gallery.

🗓️ Submission deadline: Sunday 14th June 2026 AOE

This looks like a happy robot to me 😍

I hosted @masaru_mizuochi's 'Struggle of Seeds' robot installation and panel discussion at @arebyte on Wednesday, a culmination of the artist's year-long residency at @ual_cci before he returns to Japan 😭🇯🇵

Having seen the original robot performance in Wimbledon in December 2025, I was keen to bring the robot installation into a gallery setting and arebyte couldn't have been a better fit (what with the @auriea.harvey.studio show next door 👀).

We were also lucky to have the choreographer/performer @sylvia.phd and the roboticist @romarioakiki with us for a short panel after the screening, sharing their contributions to the project and multicultural perspectives on robots and choreographies.

Here some pictures of the evening. Thanks all for a wonderful event, especially grateful to @pitarreola, @palm.laz, @unzeroed and Claudel Goy for making the event happen 🙏
