Social Enterprise supporting young people with creative skills, confidence and connections

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This week sees the opening of our young people’s exhibition Reflecting Presence at Perth Creative Exchange. The exhibition is a culmination of work created in three Expressive Mark Making workshops led by artist (and Creative Catalyst mentor) Caitlin Hanna, who shared their practice of intuitive mark making and writing as a method of reflecting on emotional experience. The workshops and exhibition are part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival - an annual celebration of the arts and mental health taking place across Scotland.

The exhibition is running from Tuesday 13th October till Friday 6th November, from 9am-5pm. taken in Perth Creative Exchange by @creativecatalystscotland

We’re hiring! 🎨

We are currently looking for someone to join our small team supporting young people to develop a creative practice whilst ensuring their wellbeing is prioritised and additional support needs are accommodated.

The candidate will ideally have a COSCA counselling qualification (or equivalent) as well as experience of a visual arts practice and working with young people and neurodivergent minds.

We recognise the requirements of the role are relatively niche so please get in touch if you think your experience may be relevant but doesn’t necessarily match exactly — we’d like to know more about you and how you may fit into the organisation.

To get in touch fill in the short application form linked in our bio where you can also find the full job description ✨ by @creativecatalystscotland

Our first Expressive Mark Making workshop for the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival went down brilliantly.

The workshops are being led by artist @caitlinhanna_art (and resident Creative Catalyst mentor) and in week one we heard about their process of making art and creating intuitively to express emotions.

We loosened up through intuitive mark making and then reflected on the emotional experience of the process using words. Looking forward to next week’s workshop where we’ll be diving into words, metaphors and more expressive marks.

If you would like to join in please fill in our booking form link (via Linktree in bio); you do not need to have attended previous workshops to participate. by @creativecatalystscotland

We’re delighted to announce our core programme for young people aged 16-25 has expanded! In addition to our core Monday and Tuesday sessions we have extended provision to Wednesdays as well. This extra time and studio space is for young people to evolve their professional practice as they build more and more independence and confidence.

We currently have space in our Tuesday and Wednesday Young Creatives programmes. Get in touch if you, or someone you know is aged between 16-25 with creative skills and needs some extra support to get out there professionally 🎨

You can find the Young Creatives Referral Form and Referral Guide linked in our bio or get in touch if you prefer to chat 💬 by @creativecatalystscotland

This summer saw the conclusion of our ambitious mural project working with young people from The Community School of Auchterarder. Their creativity, commitment and collaboration resulted in this vibrant, welcoming mural transforming a dark and dingy underpass in Auchterarder. The young people worked closely with artists @frasergrayart and Martin McGuinness (@macsimmm) who supported them to visualise their youth voice and ideas

The benefits of the project are wide-reaching; not only did it transform the space for the whole community, it also gave the young people a sense of pride and ownership through a confidence-building process that provided essential skills development. Intergenerational relationships within the community were improved by giving the young people an opportunity to visually communicate their experience of being a young person today. Their design concept invites the viewer to think about what might be going on below the surface for our young people as they navigate a world built by and for adults

We worked closely with Perth & Kinross Council Services for Young People and Families and Logos Youth Project (@logosyouthproject), whose trusted relationships with local young people were instrumental in supporting participation, engagement and commitment throughout the project. The core design team was led by young people from the Champions’ Board at The Community School of Auchterarder
