While listening to a podcast this morning, the speaker, who unexpectedly lost her husband five years ago, explained the things that are most helpful to say when someone is grieving. Here they are: “I love you.” “I’m sorry.” “I’ll stick around. I’m here for you.”

All words are well-meaning but some things can strike the wrong chord, inadvertently. It’s sacred space. Enter it with reverence.

Know too it may be easier for then if you don’t linger in that liminal space. For me, I want to feel glad again and hear your news. I want to live! So share your good news and plans. Smile. It helps those who grieve to also be part of the life that’s happening now. 🩷 by @creativecompanylaura

Fruit tree growers, I need your wisdom! Two years ago, two apple trees were planted. This year, one produced 20 apples and I’m about to enjoy one this evening. First fruits of my labor! 🍎 The other tree is full of foliage but produced only four apples. Any idea what I can do to increase the production on the second tree next season? I see apple sauce and apple butter in coming years! by @creativecompanylaura

“Taste and see that the Lord is good.” Logan came to my place for dinner poolside Friday evening. It was my first time grilling here. Now I want to do it every night. Lol. So easy. Coco and I have enjoyed some long walks in the evenings. Tristan and I had lunch yesterday at Greenway Station. And, I am in the pool daily. After almost two months of being away, it feels good to spend the weekend in Madison.

Check out the necklace in the pics too. The “special sister” charm was a gift from LaVonne to me in 1986. I finally bought a beautiful gold chain for it at TQ Diamonds on Friday. TQ was one of my early clients. It was nice to meet the son of the owner. Tanner helped me select the perfect gold chain. You’ll likely see me wearing it often. The charm sat in my jewelery box for decades. Now it’s my most favorite piece of jewelry. 🩷 by @creativecompanylaura

I can check my annual physical box. It was due in the spring. Blood pressure Is good and I’ve had all my shots. Looks like I’m ready for the first day of school! 😊 Glad to start marking these things off the list again! by @creativecompanylaura

A new day is dawning. I’m off to return linens to the Workshop in Galena and then a return to my life in business. My heart is glad for each of you, for the love that surrounded LaVonne and our family, and for the opportunity to enjoy this day the Lord has given us.

Over the last few days, I received two sets of chimes. This one is from my cousin Melissa Leehan and her husband. Gentle and easy, just like LaVonne. 🎶 by @creativecompanylaura
