I used to search the Kitchener stitch every single time. Here’s how to graft a seamless join from memory — no scrolling mid-row. 🧶

So I stopped guessing and figured it out — and it turns out the Kitchener stitch is two secrets, not one:

One — the mantra. Knit, purl. Purl, knit. Two stitches per needle.

Two — Where you start depends on the panel.

On the front knit panel, you go in the knit way first, then the purl way.
On the back purl panel, you go in purling first, then knitting.
And the stitch you slip off the needle? It’s always the one that matches the panel it’s sitting on.

The moment that clicked, my hands just knew and honestly? I don’t think I’ll ever look it up again and I hope that so will you

So next time grafting makes you freeze mid-row — that’s not you failing, that’s just a rhythm nobody bothered to teach you properly. Now you have it.

This is me dealing with a situation while traveling because I didn't have enough space to bring my blocking tools.

The moral of the story is: don’t let things stop you and just do it.

This was a swatch, but maybe you want to block part of your sweater while traveling, ooooooor you’re excited to use your FO and blocking is stopping you.

Another tip I learned after the fact is that you can substitute wool soap with a liiiilttle bit of hair conditioner or baby shampoo.

At @sfmoma, you’ll find @jacobhashimotostudio’s Giant Arc on the first floor, and you can watch it while drinking matcha on the stairs.

Watching from a crafter’s POV, I could feel the energy that went into making every single one of those kites, and the pain of keeping all of them hanging at the right height. I thought about the people behind the buildup, because this was a man’s vision brought to life by people supporting him; not a vision or picture made by AI with a prompt.

An evolution of creativity, grit, and personal growth.

While reading his interview and learning that this exhibition was an evolution and his largest installation, I also thought about all the mental challenges he must’ve gone through; most definitely the self-doubt.

The number of times he probably made mistakes, overcome them, and gotten there for all of us to witness.

If you haven’t been, or if you are visiting SF,
do yourself a favor:
🧶grab your knits
🪑and sit or lie among this installation,
👀because it’s one of the best ones you’ll ever witness.

I cannot believe I am so close to finishing my first texture knit 😱

It was everything I wanted:
- Simple yet beautiful
- Challenging enough to provoke craft growth
- A teacher

We are in the last week of the #gypsophilashawl KAL, designed by @life_is_cozy (the first KAL from @knitters.inthewild) and it has been a great experience.

Of the lessons I’ve learned, this is the one that gave me freedom—freedom to adjust my stitches according to what was needed and what I liked. And I loved having a defined Estonian braid throughout the knit 😍

So, knitter, this is your reminder to be flexible with your needle sizes and adjust them according to what you need.
