Launch Event Announcement! 🥁

We're gearing up for our very first event as a CIC and here's everything you need to know. 💌

Centered around the theme 'The Quiet Art of Femme Craft', our launch event is a community gathering where we celebrate creativity rooted in care, slowness, and shared experience. Inspired by traditional and contemporary femme craft practices, from stitching and mending to journaling and handmade objects, the event creates a welcoming space where making becomes a collective act.

Our collaborators have been carefully curated to share different expressions of femme craft: from sustainable clothing and handmade jewellery to punch needle work and textile arts. The event is accompanied by a small workshop station and live music, creating a warm atmosphere that encourages conversation, connection, and meaningful networking.
This is an invitation to slow down, support independent creatives, and experience craft as community.

Hosted by Open Salotto CIC - a community-led, non-profit organisation - the gathering reflects our values of accessibility, sustainability, collaboration, and mutual support. We believe creativity should be shared, not gatekept, and that community spaces should feel inclusive and creative.

What to expect:

-Live Music featuring @lauradiaforever and @danny_hriley
-Zine Launch in collaboration with @thenewjaneration and @anna.kuglar
-Stalls featuring @byely_atelier @bullnchain and @creativeweirdo_
-Workshop hosted by @_tayoko_sen_

Made possible by an incredible team of independent creative and Open Salotto CIC directors @stylestoriesbymj and @_tayoko_sen_

💖 Thrilled to announce that our collaboration with @exetercityoflit for their Bridging Cities project with @jakartacityoflit is now on exhibition at Exeter Library until the end of October!

The brief was to respond to a powerful poetry piece from an incredible poet in Jakarta, and my artwork is on display at the library. You can also download the digital publication from the Exeter UNESCO City of Literature website or simply scan the QR code on the last slide! taken in Exeter Library by @creativeweirdo_
