POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I choreographed this maybe less than a year ago 🥰 This was a first draft of the dance and I was originally going to get back in the studio and clean it and post that version, but I ended up not doing that 😅 I’ve been itching to get in my bag about choreographing because as much as I love classes and improving my skills with dance training, I really want to find and explore my own creativity with dance. I feel that making my own choreo will help me get settled into feeling myself which will allow me to dance with music and the feelings and sounds of beats better. Doing other peoples choreo sometimes feels disconnecting, like I’m trying too hard to get choreo down which takes away from feeling and performance. If I were to make my own dances and rehearsing and possibly teaching, I’d be in a place to show my performance side that I do have background in. Idk I just think Id bring out a different set of skills I do possess by putting myself in a more comfortable position with my own dances.

Never got around to posting this, but this was my private with @eazycece_ in my time training out in LA. I know I could have done better if I wasn’t already sore from a class I took a day prior to this. Besides the choreography goes, I did learn a lot from Cece about myself and habits I do obtain when I dance. I think the feedback I got was really helpful on things I need to be mindful of and will be useful in the long run for any other class or pieces.

I think this was the best private I could’ve taken while out there since Cece already knows me as a dancer and together building my “weaknesses” and also my comfortability level with her.

Miss and love you CeCe! Also love her custom light 💖

If ya ask me, listening to womp womps and do dads helps my musicality by truly listening to whats going on in the music 😵‍💫🎶🥁

This is 2/2 of the outfits I made! This particular outfit took me about 4 days to make 🙃 because I kept running into design flaws and is also the reason I only had 2/3 outfits made 😂 The most heart breaking part is this is the only photo I have of my outfit 😭

I designed this asymmetrical piece, one sleeve and one pant leg on opposite sides. This came out pretty different than how i originally designed it. Drawing it out I realized “how the hell am I going to put this on?,” and structured for the sides to have elastic bands. After cutting my fabric and sewing most of it, I realized again that the structure had no where for me to actually get it on. I changed the design to make it a bodysuit with a connected pant leg (aiming for a chap kind of deal). Later realized i should have made it detachable, but didn’t have enough time so I kept it. I knew i wanted a hood and my plan was to have a detachable mask that can snap onto the hood so it doesn’t keep falling (I left the mask at home by accident).

Overall I’m very shocked at how well this turned out. I would consider myself a beginner sewer so the fact this doesn’t look like a beginner piece astounds me. Because I knew I didn’t have a lot of time I actually looked up sewing patterns for this rather than just winging it like I normally do. Adding on embellishments like sequins to the arm sleeve and pant leg and adding a little sum sum to the v-neck is what really tied it together for me. by @creativityofcel

To finally posting other creative things I do 🥂 I kept telling myself for years that I wanted to make my own rave outfits, but procrastinating always got the best of me. I had absolutely no choice but to this year, as I’ve dedicated this year’s EDC to be my last 🤧 (as a raver 👀).

My plan was to make all three outfits, but only had enough time to make two. This post was my day two outfit, which was the first of the two that I wore. I made this in a span of less than 24 hours 🫠 The hardest part was figuring out the pattern of the bra cups. I had to make many mistakes to finally saying “good enough” 😂 There was more I wanted to add to this to make it more complete, like some frailly stuff and arm bands to match, some purple accent things. I still can and might, however I think it still came out really good and I really like how it turned out. I actually surprised myself with how good I actually did. by @creativityofcel

Such a fun class!
Alli had back to back collab classes, and this was the collab she did with Tessa. I love learning from both of these amazing dancers. Them together was such a great pair and I mean come on 🤩 look at this choreography! I highly recommend you watch their version. Thanks to both of you for such a great class!

What I really love about this dance is that it was really challenging in multiple ways. Isolating and changing your visual direction is such a hard thing to do especially on a very distinct sound in the music. Retention was pretty good up until the end, I think my brain was just rejecting the rest of the dance 😂 Textures was also used in this piece and I think I did pretty good, but I need to fully commit to my moves. I also really liked that they implemented interactions with other dancers for that small part.

Now I will very very rarely take a contemporary class. Contemp is a style I would like to get my mind and body more comfortable with and I’ve taken classes and learned a few things from dancers throughout my time dancing. I really liked the song choice, it’s a song from a movie I’ve grown up watching, I’m sure a lot of people have. Since I know thing song and the concept of what this song means I really wanted to make it to this class.

This contemporary class is probably the most confident and comfortable I’ve felt in this style. I noticed I was letting go more mentally a physically. I actually felt really good after class and that I did fairly well. Thank you to Brittany for the positive feedback that also reassured how I felt about it.

Y’all I’m so happy Haley came and taught this class. This is maybe the second or third time I’ve taken her class and I’m so sad I haven’t taken her classes sooner. ESPECIALLY since she lives in LA now. Her classes always feel so personal to me and whatever she has preached in her classes fall in alignment with what I was going through at the time. In this class I was challenged with slowing movements down and taking my time in some areas. Balance was also something that challenged me in this piece. Haley is a really great teacher plus she always keeps the vibes up and so it’s always enjoyable and I think that I have a lot to learn from her, so I can’t wait till she comes back!

My personal experience: This is the first time I went to class high as heck, which isn’t what I normally do. I actually ate an edible because I forgot about class. I thought that I was gonna be fine because I hear a lot of other dancer do, and in some cases it actually helps dancers. For me, I wish I wasn’t high for this class specifically. I don’t think that I did as well as I know I could have done, I was forgetful on some movements and my balance was being compromised. Looking back at the video, I have such lazy hands OMG. Maybe if I took a beginner or even a slower and shorter class then maybe being high would have been a better experience, but personally and overall I wouldn’t do it again.

A few years ago, when I got back into dancing I started out by taking Alli’s classes. She always had this high energy and her dances always looked so fun to do. Cutting to now, it’s been a cool minutes since I’ve been in her classes and every time I go back it reminds me how much I really love her classes. She really does have this energy that emanates on people and I always leave feeling so great. I think that getting in her classes now compared to before, she’s grown so much as a dancer and she continues to grow. For me, her classes never get easier, but I think that’s a great thing. If it got easier I think that, yes, that means I’ve grown as a dancer to her level in a way, but since they aren’t I grow even more taking her classes trying to gain the skills she possesses. Her classes alone makes me feel so confident, bringing out my inner sass. I think coming into the new year I want to be more consistent in her classes because it’s such great training.

I finally had a chance to get back into Brittany’s class. She made me realize it’s been a year since the last time I took her class, which is astounding 🥲 I miss her classes so much! I forget how great it is to train with Brittany. Her choreo isn’t just hard and fast, it’s such a great way to grow as a dancer and really get the push to the next level.

I almost didn’t go up to film because by the time, I felt I already forgot everything. Brittany taught this class differently than how she normally teaches. It was a great thing to experience because I personally never learned choreo that way, but it definitely tested my brain and putting things together. That double turn into the snap was hard af.

Let me tell you! First off shout out to @toniiii_rainnnn for telling me that @galenhooks was coming!!!

My first time seeing a Galen dance was either between “Human” or “River” I couldn’t tell you which one was first, but this was probably around my last year of high school. Watching her dance literally gave me chills & I just wanted to dance like her so bad. Like how can someone move like that forreal? If you would have told that girl that eventually she’d be learning “River”, learn from Galen & to even speak to Galen. She would have laughed and said “Yeah in my dreams”.

Cut to taking her classes, I took all three, there was no way that I had a chance to and not take them. My heart was RACING. The out of high school dancer who watched this years ago was ecstatic. I really didn’t want to put too much pressure on myself because I didn’t want to leave feeling defeated & embarrassed or that I didn’t do enough.

I have never taken a class with someone who teaches like Galen. You know that she has the experience, talent, & such a way of teaching that makes you feel like you’re in such good hands. She knew things about people & the vibe of everyone without even being told, like sniffing things out. Every moment felt like learning something new, and everything she taught came from such sincerity like she genuinely wanted everyone to kill her choreo. Class felt comfortable & at the same time I felt seen.

I wish I got a chance to take a video of all three but this is the only video I have. My personal experience: stand in the front. As someone short & was really eager to learn, I only stood in the front for the first dance & slowly made my way towards the back, which was a mistake. As the pieces were getting more challenging, it was hard to see some parts & get details. There weren’t many questions being taken so it was a more visual learning experience and sometimes I couldn’t see. I pushed myself to do every harder part there was (version A and B). I did that even if I knew I wasn’t going to be capable, because again, I didn’t want to leave feeling like I didn’t do enough.

Besides that I would take her classes a million times over! taken in In The Groove Studios by @creativityofcel

I class I took a little while back from Tessa! I’m so thrilled that she’s teaching and not just pop-ups, but teaching every other Tuesdays at full out. I really liked her song choice and her choreo. I think that Tessa has such a unique style and there are multiple things I’d like to learn from her. This piece was really testing my thighs, you don’t even know. Loved learning this piece and I hope she revisits it again. It was a push, but a very appreciated push. My biggest struggle in this was putting the pieces together, I was having a hard time with what movements came after what. Not sure if that’s a retention thing, or I’m just not used to Tessa’s style yet.
