One of the biggest shifts in my editing career was learning that not every part of the process requires the same brain.
 Some parts of editing are technical.

Some parts are creative.

And trying to do both at the same time is where a lot of editors get stuck, overwhelmed, or burnt out.
 Dumping footage? Technical.

Organizing files? Technical.

Building sequences? Technical.
 Finding story, shaping emotion, choosing B-roll, layering sound design, polishing the final piece?

That’s creative.
 Once I started separating those mindsets and cycling between technical passes and creative passes, everything became more efficient.
 Less friction.

Less guesswork.

Less mental clutter.
 More focus when it’s time to organize.

More intention when it’s time to create.
 That simple shift has saved me a lot of headaches in the edit, and it’s a huge reason I can move faster without making the work feel rushed.
