As the founder of formulator of Creature Soleil, I wanted to introduce myself. I am a photographer living in the foothills of Santa Barbara County with a long history in the beauty business and an avid curiosity in the science of wellness and beauty.

I have a non-linear background working with international brands such as Weleda, Cellex-C, C.O.Bigelow, L’Occitane, Les Bains du Marais, and now my own — co-founded by holistic lifestyle entrepreneur and educator, Anna Oster.

I founded Creature Soleil with the main desire to create a product for the bath that would actually benefit skin instead of drying it out (like salts sometimes can). What developed is a formula that not only transforms an ordinary soak into a replenishing skin treatment, but transcends the tub alone, and provides the skin with actual nutrition, with actual results.

SUNBATH Serum Powder is a concentrated, bioavailable powder that simply mixes with warm water (5 scoops in the bath, or 2 scoops directly to warm, wet skin in shower or sauna) to provide a unique, absorbable, aqueous masque for skin that imparts benefit even after it rinses off. Its creamy, powder-to-serum formula gives skin an immediate hydrated, silky feel, and over time — creates glowing, firmer, healthier, more even-toned skin.

I source every ingredient with the highest purity and safety standards, held to the same rigor as supplements, and mix in small batches in California. The ingredients of SUNBATH are natural, non-toxic, organic when possible, with deep regard for sustainability. The formula rinses clear and leaves no trace behind. You have to feel the silkiness of SUNBATH for yourself, and smell its hypnotizing scent of vetiver and eucalyptus. There is nothing like it. by @creaturesoleil

After years of Epsom, Dead Sea Salts and Oil, I am rethinking the bath.

I love baths, yet I didn’t understand that the frequency and exposure to salty hot water could actually be harming my skin. Here’s why:

Water alone, due to its alkaline pH, disrupts the delicate and protective acid mantle of the skin, and when you add in a chloride like Sea Salts or a sulfate like Epsom, you raise the ion concentration as well. This “charged”, water osmotically attracts and pulls water from the outer layers of skin cells, called corneocytes — resulting in dehydration on a cellular level. Hot water also loosens the flat-lying structure of these protective outer corneocyte cells, “fraying the edges” — and disrupting the intercellular supporting matrix of lipids and ceramides. Skin that is frayed and dehydrated has less of a chance of responding well to UV damage, and grows depleted over time and repeated exposure, predisposing skin to form sunspots and lose firmness and glow.

However those of us that love baths are not about to give them up. Baths have enormous benefit to our overall health and wellbeing like enhancing blood flow, circulation, reducing blood pressure, calming and centering — What if the water that we are submerged in can replenish instead of stressing the skin? What if a bath is not something skin had to recover from, but benefited by?

I realized that heat and water offer a unique time for skin to receive nourishment, and remarkably, I’ve learned, many valuable nutrients for skin are water-soluble. I took the opportunity to sneak past the frayed corneocytes with NAG for example, a tiny, water-soluble, heat-stable amino sugar that the skin uses to produce its own Hyaluronic Acid. If Hyaluronic Acid was a Hummingbird, NAG would be the nectar. NAG also blocks the enzyme that causes sunspots. Win/win.

Every single ingredient has been intelligently chosen and meticulously sourced — to support healthy skin, which is beautiful skin. The rich, aqueous nutrition of SUNBATH formulas were formulated to saturate and infuse the stratum corneum, and bathe each interacting cell in healthy, glowy nutrition. by @creaturesoleil

I love baths — as ritual, as reset, as heat therapy, to improve circulation and blood flow, to slow heart rate, to repose….
For years I kept a gigantic jar of Epsom salts by the bathtub, laced with my favorite essential oils. I would scoop in gigantic cup-fulls, and disappear for a while, emerging to dryer skin (!) that I then followed with a generous coat of coconut oil. I am fairly stubborn and even though this ritual wasn’t perfect (so many oil-stained linen sheets!) it was mine, and I loved it for years.

On occasion I would splurge on beautiful packaged mineral-rich salts, or go back to the old favorite “Dr. Singha’s Mustard Bath” (that smells of wintergreen and turns the bathwater mustard yellow)— but the chloride salts (even if meticulously sourced) dried my skin even worse than Epsom, and the formulas often left a mess in the tub to deal with later. Don’t even get me started on bubble baths.

It was in the bath that I realized that there was a missing opportunity to care for the skin during this ritualized time. I studied cellular function, how the barrier works, and what happens to skin cells when immersed in hot water, and what would truly be effective during a bath, and not lost down the drain.
I started to think of a bath as an opportunity to supplement my skin topically, an extension of all the supplements I was taking internally - but most likely were not benefitting the outer layers of skin.

Most importantly, I also came to understand that dehydrated skin is predisposed to damage, the kind you get every day through UV exposure and pollution. In addition, dehydrated skin is NOT remedied with oils.

The sunspots forming on my arms, legs and chest might just be accelerated by my daily baths.

POWDER OR CRYSTALS? ✷

SUNBATH SERUM POWDER

Our original, concentrated powder-to-serum formula. Coconut and Oat milks carry a potent blend of N-Acetyl Glucosamine, Vitamins C + E, Glutathione, Ectoin, and Lactic acid. Add warm water and the powder transforms into a creamy serum treatment for skin.

Use it in the bath, shower or sauna—or directly on warm, wet skin when you want the most concentrated SUNBATH experience.

SUNBATH SERUM CRYSTALS

Think of Crystals as the mineral + bubble bath version of SUNBATH. They combine SUNBATH skincare actives with crystallized glycine, magnesium. MSM and Niacinamide and create more bubbles for that satisfying, traditional bubble-bath soak—while keeping the ritual firmly focused on skin.

Choose POWDER when you want the most concentrated, versatile skincare ritual—bath, shower, sauna or directly on warm, wet skin.

Choose CRYSTALS when you want mineral-rich soak with more bubbles and that classic bubble-bath experience.

I chose two important antioxidants for the SUNBATH formula, that stand alone beautifully but are so much more powerful when combined. If you’ve been following along, SUNBATH Serum Powder is the hero product from Creature Soleil, developed by founder and photographer Blue Gabor as a salt-free, skin-focused bath that assists skin in countering UV damage. It can also be used in the shower or sauna, or anytime your skin is wet and warm. The powder formula literally melts on contact with water and saturates skin with a potent, undiluted vitamin treatment, unlike anything else.

The first antioxidant in SUNBATH is Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP), a creamy, water-loving, stable form of Vitamin C — it fully dissolves when activated by water, gets converted to L-Ascorbic acid by the skin, and is absorbed by cells through the epidermis’s intercellular matrix. It is one of the most important topical supplements for glowing, bouncy skin, with even tone (aka less sunspots).

The second is a form of Vitamin E, Tocopheryl Acetate (TA) — which is oil-loving — it travels suspended rather than dissolved, gets converted to Alpha-tocopherol by the skin, and settles into lipid layers, where it embeds itself into cell membranes and protects the cell from oxidative damage. It gets depleted with UV exposure, so replenishment is key to healthy cells. The symbiosis here is that when Vitamin E is denatured from a day in the sun, or in aging skin, MAP is what regenerates it back to its active, usable form. Loading these two partner antioxidants topically replensishes vital protection within and outside of the cell.

SUNBATH in the evening after a full day of sun, or in the shower - mixed in your palm and applied as a masque, can create more beautiful, radiant skin.

Simply add 5 scoops into running bath water, or 2 scoops directly in palm then applied over entire body in shower or sauna, letting it sit for a while before rinsing. Skin is noticeably softer, smoother and “bouncier” with just one use but the magic is in continued usage - like a daily topical supplement! by @creaturesoleil

One of the primary ingredients in SUNBATH is N-Acetyl Glucosamine — NAG, for short. NAG is sourced from shells and an important part of the protection of a sea creature. Strung together one way, NAG becomes the scaffold of a shell. Strung together with a different partner sugar, it becomes hyaluronic acid — the molecule most responsible for how plump and hydrated your skin looks.

NAG rebuilds hydration from the inside. Skin makes its own hyaluronic acid, but it needs raw material to do it — and NAG is that raw material.

NAG also quiets pigmentation by blocking an enzyme responsible for producing melanin which is part of why it’s linked to fading and helping prevent the kind of sun-triggered dark spots that happen after being in the sun.

NAG also fills in the gaps between ragged skin cells, and normalizes how cells shed, creating a smoother, more hydrated skin with a healthier response to sun. Bathing in this water-soluble nutrient replenishes exactly where it is most needed.

Just one part of the magic of SUNBATH. by @creaturesoleil
