Being in the room with some of the best CRNAs and SRNAs in the country is so motivating. These events always leave me fulfilled and excited about the next chapter that is ahead as I approach the end of a four year journey.

I am deeply grateful for everyone’s support and encouragement leading up to my doctoral dissemination. This journey began back in 2022 and I haven’t looked back since. To sit here writing this post is still surreal. I am proud of the work of me and my classmate have done over these last few months in preparing to present our project. Thank you for everyone who attended my presentation in person and over zoom. It means so much.

Five more months until I can join the best profession in the world. My mission is still the same. Continue to pay it forward. The days are long, but the closer I get the more I see that it is all worth it.

The greatest thing nursing has given me isn’t just knowledge it’s perspective. The journey teaches you that confidence is earned through uncertainty, resilience is built through setbacks, and growth happens most on the days you question yourself. Every patient, every mistake, every success, and every challenge leaves you with a lesson that shapes not only the nurse you become, but the person you become.

Trust the process.

The journey is the lesson, and every step is preparing you for someone who will one day need exactly the nurse you’re becoming.

Don’t get caught up!!

It’s funny how many nurses can explain pharmacology at the cellular level, interpret complex hemodynamics, and walk through the pathophysiology of multi-organ failure…

But then freeze when they’re asked, “Tell me about yourself.”

The irony is that the “easy” questions are often the most important ones.

CRNA faculty already know you can earn good grades and master difficult science. What they’re really trying to understand is who you are. Can you communicate with confidence? Are you self-aware? Can you reflect on your experiences, think critically, and connect with others?

Knowledge gets you the interview. Character, communication, and authenticity are what leave a lasting impression.

Don’t spend so much time rehearsing what you know that you forget to prepare for the questions that reveals who you are.
