🗳️ Real power? It starts when we all show up. Crew Count is a coalition dedicated to educating peers on the importance of voting, how to vote and getting people elected that represent overpoliced groups and communities.

We are organizing to fundamentally change how elected officials legislate and draft policies for overpoliced and resource starved communities. For the 2025 Mayoral Primary we brought the candidates to the Brownsville Safety Alliance.

📍 NYC Mayoral Primary is around the corner. We don’t just live in this city—we shape it. That means register. Check. Vote.

In March 2017 at a March on Rikers we demanded that @nycmayor #closerikersnow as part of the @closerikersnow coalition. Today we are demanding the same! There is a humanitarian crisis happening in our city!

In October 2018 @bkbmg went to Rikers to screen Raised in the System for the incarcerated young men — while he was there to love on the young men and lift their spirits he used his time strategically to influence the guards and force them to see their own humanity in the incarcerated men. He challenged them to be vulnerable and open their hearts by changing their behaviors And recognize the joint trauma that a place like Rikers causes. Mike was love all the time to all people. #brooklynboymadegood taken in Rikers Island Maximum Security Prison by @crewcountnyc

Last year COVID-19 was ravaging black & brown communities and gun violence was surging. Brownsville In Violence Out were front line responders. Violence interrupters often don’t get the accolades, compensation or support that other first responders get. @bkbmg recognized the pain and trauma and hosted a family day bbq for the Violence Interrupters and their families. It was a day of eating, loving, dancing, and togetherness. Mike loved BIVO and all the @nyc_cms teams. He believed in the work. He believed in the people. He believed in love and community. #webuildtheblock taken in Brooklyn, New York by @crewcountnyc
