EXHIBITION FEATURE:

Sherry Owens
Into the Bramble
bronze, patina
34.50 x 15.50 x 15.50 in.

As the first work in Owens' oeuvre to incorporate bamboo, Into the Bramble is a dense and intriguing cluster that invites the viewer to look closer. The choice of material was inspired by a trip to Japan, in which Owens visited the bamboo forest in Kyoto. The sculpture evokes several different experiences as the viewer moves around, emphasizing the use of shadow and form. Through dedicated labor and a strong sense of spirituality, Owens transforms pieces of the natural world into something entirely new.

Into the Bramble is currently on view as part of Sherry Owens' exhibition, "ensouled," on view through October 24th. Please DM us for pricing information and availability! taken in Cris Worley Fine Arts by @crisworley

EXHIBTION FEATURE:

Isabelle du Toit
Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow), 2026
oil on canvas
30 x 40 in.

Isabelle du Toit's painting lovingly celebrates the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing its diversity through vibrant coloring and attentive detail. Based on Tanager and Bunting birds, each one highlights the unique ecology of the Americas. Despite the scarcity hinted from the bare branch, du Toit's birds rest together, lauding kinship and perseverance. With focused precision, Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow) is a prime example of du Toit's mastery of color, prompting consideration of our experience with the natural world.

Arc-en-ciel (Rainbow) is currently on view as part of Isabelle du Toit's exhibition, "Vivarium," through October 24th. Please DM us for pricing information and availability! taken in Cris Worley Fine Arts by @crisworley

THE ARTIST DINNER DATE
Where Art Meets Appetite

AN IMMERSIVE EVENING WITH NISHIKI SUGAWARA-BEDA
Art. Sound. Cuisine. Conversation.

Join us for an intimate evening at Tei Tei Robata Bar, where the evocative work of Japanese-American artist Nishiki Sugawara-Beda, represented by Cris Worley Fine Arts, becomes the inspiration for a multi-sensory experience. Through immersive projections, Nishiki’s meditative Sumi ink compositions will transform the dining environment, accompanied by the ethereal sounds of Alondra Máynez on electric harp and Jon Johnston on shakuhachi, the traditional Japanese bamboo flute. Together, we’ll explore the intersections of art, identity, culture, and memory over a thoughtfully curated four-course Japanese food tasting with sake pairings, followed by an intimate conversation with the artist.

An evening designed not simply to observe art, but to experience it.

📍 Tei Tei Robata Bar | Dallas
📅 Sunday, November 8 | 6:30 PM
🎟️ $125 per guest | Only 25 seats

We are pleased to invite you to a special conversation between artist Sherry Owens and Katherine Brimberry of Flatbed Press, taking place tomorrow, Saturday, October 3rd, from 2–3 PM at Cris Worley Fine Arts. The conversation will explore Owens’ work and her recent collaboration with Flatbed Press, offering an opportunity to hear more about her artistic process and the ideas behind her work.

Sherry Owens has been creating in Dallas for over 40 years, working across drawing, sculpture, and printmaking. For Owens, these mediums are connected through an enduring exploration of line, gesture, repetition, and nature’s cycles. The conversation will focus on new prints developed through her collaboration with Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking, following her selection as the recipient of the 2024 Käthe Kollwitz Residency. These works expand upon Owens’ longstanding exploration of line and gesture while revealing the connection between her works on paper and sculptural practice.

Katherine Brimberry is Co-founder, Director, and Senior Master Printer of the Flatbed Center for Contemporary Printmaking. Katherine’s expertise as Senior Master Printer is in the collaboration phase of intaglio or relief projects. She has worked as a technical collaborator with artists such as James Surls, Julie Speed, Frank X. Tolbert 2, Trenton Doyle Hancock, Linda Ridgway and Joan Winter, among many others. She is an experienced instructor of printmaking having taught printmaking at Texas State University, St. Edward’s University and Austin Community College.

This event is free and open to the public. Please join us!!!

A little love for gallery artist Sherry Owens.

We’re thrilled to see Owens featured in Glasstire’s Top 5 for October 1, 2026. Don’t miss your chance to see this incredible exhibition in person, on view through Oct 24.

ensouled is an invitation into Owens’s way of seeing: a world in which a fallen branch can become a line, a sculpture, a memory, or a meditation.

Congratulations, Sherry. 🌟 @sherryowens_sculpture

OLGA ARSENIEV JOHNSON | ARTIST BIO

I’m drawn to how plants grow—their various behaviors, adaptations, and curious ways of thriving. I explore ways of portraying plants beyond realism, using whimsy and botanical surrealism to consider their peculiarities, relationships and possibilities. My interdisciplinary practice moves between pencils, words, gouache, watercolors, ink, oils, photography, video, sound and digital manipulation.

My interest in plants extends into questions of how humans observe, experience and connect with the natural world. At a recent RAW (Research, Art and Writing) Conference, I presented a participatory experience on the subject of trees and the human connections we form with them. Alongside my studio practice, I teach design as a graduate student and am a member of LabSynthe, a creative laboratory for electronic poetry at UT Dallas.

Olga is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Practice at the University of Texas Dallas, with anticipated completion in 2027. by @crisworley
