Join us this Saturday, June 14th from 5 - 7pm for the opening receptions of:

Adrian Esparza
“Products of a Compass”

Continuing his exploration of the Mexican sarape as cultural artifact, symbol, and medium, Esparza expands his visual language with Products of a Compass. The exhibition features a dynamic selection of new works, including sarape-based constructions and the evolution of his enigmatic sarape paintings. Each piece reveals the artist’s ongoing interest in transformation—both material and conceptual—through processes of deconstruction, repetition, and craftsmanship.

In Products of a Compass, Esparza deepens his dialogue between absence and presence, color and form. The sarape, once unraveled, becomes a tool for geometric abstraction and cultural memory. In his newest sarape paintings, vibrant threads are embedded beneath layers of acrylic paint, only to be revealed again through an act of abrasion, creating a delicate interplay between concealment and revelation. Meanwhile, the artist’s works on paper, marked by precise grids and vibrant pen work, function as intimate blueprints for the larger sculptural interventions.

Charlotte Smith
“2025”

In this latest body of work, Smith continues to push the boundaries of her distinctive drip and drop technique, now embracing a bold resurgence of color and scale. Where previous exhibitions leaned into quiet restraint and meditative motion, 2025 marks a shift-an ascent into light, energy, and a renewed visual intensity.

The paintings ripple with chromatic energy— luminescent purples, sunlit ambers, marine blues -colors that vibrate across layers of poured, pooled, and suspended paint. These works suggest not only aqueous environments, but also cellular forms, stellar constellations, and emotional landscapes. The work’s rhythmic density and gestural nuance reflect both intuitive control and Smith’s deep commitment to process.

Both exhibitions run from June 14 - August 2, 2025. DM for more information.

We hope to see you Saturday.

-Cris

Join us for a conversation with artists:
RAYCHAEL STINE | RICHARD PATTERSON
Saturday, April 20th at 4 p.m.

Raychael Stine makes luscious, joyful paintings that integrate multiple painterly languages and approaches to mark, texture, and levels of visual legibility, allowing for playful slippage between formal and material abstraction and traditional devices of painterly representation.
She works in thematic series: Vision paintings, Jammer paintings, and Middle Lovers each of which make up this exhibition. Color schemes come from looking at photographs, digital translations and screens, natural and artificial shadows and light, working plein-air, flowers, skies, dogs, hummingbirds, rainbows, postcards, other paintings. Sometimes it is direct, and encapsulates color from observation and translation, and other times the color is intuitive— riffing off of undertone, and splaying color in ecstatic prismatic grades. Movement is inspired by sensual experiences like sniffing, kissing, and crying. A trompe l’oeil teardrop becomes a dog’s ear or a petal. A cosmos flower is a portal into the greater cosmos. Stine prefers sensory embodied experience rather than rational linear approaches to making. Joy and pleasure are her compass.
