okay first reel alert because i really wanted to talk about this book i’m reading “Biosemiotics: An Examination into the Signs of Life and the Life of Signs” by Jesper Hoffmeyer..

so much of my fermentation and writing practice is informed by the belief that we as living beings are fundamentally connected to the matter and energy of one another, that this relationship can be deeply isolating or incredibly erotic, & that the ways in which we interpersonally interact are actually stages upon which larger movements can perform.
This text offers an incredibly compelling transdisciplinary redefinition of the origin and evolution of life and demonstrates that exemplary patterns of communication exist as general processes of biological cognition throughout nature.

I <3 THE PACE OF PROCESS (@abundant_commodities ) winter into spring, one year of sharing seasonal kombucha here.
‘destiny’s grotto’ salty for the kidneys and the bladder, sugar kelp and dulse seaweed, sage for support of water element actions. savory. citrus. bright ice cap morning. a blend of shaded green teas as the starter. first go around taught me to try for a shorter F1 so the final umami presents itself with less sharpness and more balance. minerality, licking saltstone lemon curd.
‘automatic earth’ is rich and deep. wet forest dirt. nettle leaf supports the rising energy of springs first steps. shiso anticolonial herb demonstrates antihistamine action and burdock ,wooden root, balances the blood for this season’s Next Movements. longer F2 brought out the weight of flavor here, secret sap, gunpowder green tea base, burst onto the scene, legendary.

i tend to find spring as a better marker for new year celebrations, but the first ferment i created as critical whimsy was satsuma vinegar in december 2023… so to two years of staying with the trouble, learning and sharing through it all. thanks for being here 🤝 by @critical_whimsy
