🌀Critical Whimsy @critical_whimsy is a speculative writing and fermentation project by *laura-sage y marshall* that uses seasonal produce of the Gulf to engage swamp based liberation. Rooted in Afro-Indigenous cosmologies and Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts, this project aims to recover an earth-centered poetic to strengthen interspecies kinship.

🌀Come taste non-alcoholic agricultural beverages to discuss + imagine how fermentation inspires liberatory strategies for building communal power within Southern ecologies. Celebrate this season’s offerings of green tea jun/kombucha, fruit based herbal sodas, raw vinegars and herbal tonics every Friday this spring from 11 - 1pm at the farm.

Drop-ins are welcome anytime to sample or purchase fermented beverages by the glass or bottle + participate in fermentive discussion as you feel called :) 🌀🌀🌀

i am deeply humbled to share the fruits of a labor i began last fall. inspired by the orange farmers of Palestine and dedicated to the lineage of my BFF @xxrosa.rosaxx , with fruit grown (@julianfarmarbowers ) foraged, and fermented in the lower 9th ward of neworleans: raw alive unfiltered citrus vinegar and herbal infused citrus vinegar tonics.
i have one 375ml bottle available that i’d like to raffle off for mutual aid benefiting palestinian survival. i have several bottles of fire cider and bitters available for purchase, with profits donated to direct fundraising for evacuation efforts.

juice from oranges, kumquats, grapefruits and satsumas fermented for 5 months, the unfiltered raw vinegar #SOURWINE001 can be used medicinally, or to engage your culinary fantasies. i also have enjoyed it cut with soda water. bright, buttery, floral. ‘king of greens’ is a digestive bitters formula inspired by the palestinian herb ‘akkoub, and includes artichoke leaf, dandelion leaf, cumin, roselle, cardamom, olive leaf to support gastrointestinal health and recovery. zesty with a peppery, smokey finish. ‘wild relatives’ fire cider tonic is inspired by za’atar and includes sumac, coriander, pomegranate, nettle leaf, thyme, oregano + aleppo pepper. vegetal and tart with a slow building heat to support immune, circulatory and digestive health.
