Goodnight my love 🩶Chippy held me through the fire pits that were my entire 30’s and early 40s and I cant thank her enough for keeping me alive. Chippy was home and comfort and survival against the lonliness I was once so terrified of. By way of taking care of her and loving unconditionally, I found interest in companionship that is mutually admirable yet complimentary in ways that challenge us to be independent. I found interest in my autonomy, my work, my dreams, my ancestral magic and starting revolutions at home. Chippy watched and waited until the very end, as we spent the last two years figuring out how to be at ease with the complex peace of aging. 🩶This is the song I would sing to her to get her to follow me around….. it worked!…… Chippy’s departure broke me and rebuilt me into this no bullshit señora with zero capacity for the urgency of ~the culture~ and lots of time for love and justice….. I feel so sad yet so determined to live and love and destroy.🩶 FOREVER MISS CHIPPY🩶 by @croadcore

STRENGTH • NEXT WORLD TAROT {Written + Illustrated by @croadcore aka me} • Join me + Next World Tarot 10/4 at @psculturalcenter , in conversation with the amazing Meredith Maran 🩶 Ill be reading from the booklet and your soul. ✖️✖️✖️STRENGTH: As Strength’s self-awareness takes hold, they try to open their heart. For Strength, resilience is embodied by a hardline firecracker who never holds back, never loses sight of their power, and doesn’t cry over spilled puke—if anything, they’re wiping off the puke with their forearm and laughing it off in a grandiose feather boa, leaving no room for their humble, natural counterpart. So here we are—finally merging fury with surrender. ⚡️Strength is a farmer of wild plants in wild environments harmed by global warming. In the Next World, Strength is about accessing your best life through compassion, listening, and navigating wild environments, wild healing methods, and wild versions of your best self. Undeterred by fancy gadgets, gender norms, and the material world, Strength focuses on the rebirth of soil, the regeneration of endangered medicinal plants, the longevity of sacred succulents, and the avid kindness that is required to fight the beasts of industrialization. ⚡️Strength fears disaster but hoards driftwood for shelter and plant wisdom for nourishment and survival. Strength fears losing a connection to themselves, so they make sure to surround themselves with a lifestyle that heals them: gentleness, and an open heart. Objectively knowing when toxicity is present, Strength honors where they come from even during a departure from everything they’ve ever known. In their healed manifestation, Strength puts themselves second when they know their world is suffering.⚡️Strength asks you to study humanity’s mistakes and discover how they are exhibited in your everyday life. Strength asks you to navigate ferocious terrain in order to learn radical tenderness. . . #NEXTWORLDTAROT Out Now and Always on @silversprocket + croadcore.org For personalized readings over video or in person with Next World Tarot, write me anytime at cristyroad@croadcore.org to schedule🩶 by @croadcore

Next World Tarot is at the Morgan Library TAROT exhibit 🖤🖤 I re-wrote the tarot when too many of us were hurting and dying and healing through queer, ancestral magic. Grateful to see this work among so many legendary pieces and relics and down the hall from Peter Hujar ✖️✖️✖️ Lioness pose by @tommyhotpants 🍊 by @croadcore

2 of SWORDS from Next World Tarot {ink marker acrylic, 2012) is Live at Illustrated Influence 9/11-10-18 @lost_origins_gallery 🖤Denial can be worn in a million ways, and the 2 of Swords wears it behind peacefulness, joy, and internal debate. She takes the situation at hand by its literal value and investigates it deeply. Until she’s prepared for battle or communication, she lets her discoveries enter the unknown.⚡️The 2 of Swords asks if you’re in denial to the point where you are destructive. Are you unwilling to listen to the truth being handed to you? Or are you paving an opulent space for self-preservation and understanding? She asks you to learn at your own pace, release your findings into the ether, and be gentle with yourself.✖️✖️✖️ by @croadcore

Thrilled and honored to be a part of ILLUSTRATED INFLUENCE: 50 Years of Punk and Comics, featuring so many legendary genius artists who taught me how to tell stories and wreak havoc. This is from the lyrics insert of THE HOMEWRECKERS: I Statements LP … a song about being casually shamed or silenced in the less than left punk circles iv left behind… {This song playing is the only HW song on spotify}✖️✖️Flyer art is by the always inspirational Nate Powell! whos comic WALKIE TALKIE inspired me to give a shit about linework movement, back in 2001 when i was obsessed with revolutionary effectiveness, and art was just a practice that chose me. The older i get, the more i love a brush and reinvention. ✖️✖️BLESS ✖️✖️✖️ 9/11 at @lost_origins_gallery in DC 🖤#punkart by @croadcore
