Wk23... Tankerton Velo (not a club) want to go on their first group trip over a weekend... Brugges it is, with the route being accessible to all and the required beer stops are plenty!

It rained, a Flanders welcome!

Not quite the day for cream shoes

The grey clouds are a theme

Wooden slats on a corner... Squeaky bum time!

Some blue sky and no wind in the flags

The best cycling route to leave Brugges

Week 22 - coming up with the idea of having a long weekend riding in Belgium, a bunch of mates said "great idea". Bikepack to Brugge for 2nights at @hotelvelotel with a middle day being a coffee/lunch stop @barbidongent. Getting away on bikes with mates is always good fun

3rd year riding over to France for the locally organised Sportive out of Ardres with @tonyperkos and @silverfoxuk. A bit heavy rain didn't dampen the spirits but they were definitely lifted higher when the bidons were topped up with beer (without asking).
Always great to get away with good friends, good food, good beer, good banter and good roads

Something like the perfect Sunday bike ride. From coffee starts at @fringeandgingecoffee to ride to @hamiltonairfieldtearoom then back to Canterbury to the @dolphincanterbury for Guinness and @jmckinven Sunday roast will others had a classic picked egg. Some of us didn't realise we were that hungry, so off we went to @flocbrewingtaproom for pizza.

I can't go back to 1984 when my dad saw Pink Floyd at Earls Court, but I can get pretty close with @ukpinkfloydexperience playing in Ramsgate.
Growing up with the music, this was a great live experience and something I would highly recommend!

16/12/2025 - received a bike from eBay after a solo bid of £85 (incl shipping). Dropped a spare stem, saddle & wheels (originals will be rebuilt) on it, grabbed some pedals and 4days later took it on a club ride to see what a Made in the USA aluminium Cannondale from 99-01 can do. Fortunately I've spent enough time with @bikefitben to understand what feels right for a riding position, so a comfortable ride didn't take long.
With original 9speed Shimano 105, gearing being 53-39 and 12-25 proved to be the first test riding around Kent.
From there, friends talking about the Rapha500 gave the idea of whether a cheap ebay purchase can complete one of the hardest tests on a bike in the Christmas holidays. @rapha 500 being 500km between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve while not destroying relationships.
Starting Boxing day, that gave 6days. So starting with 50km as no coffee shops would be open, 4days of 100km+ then finishing off with moping up the leftovers.
With that done, the bike with get some simple updates.

A great day out today taking riders off road from @bikefitben with support from @reillytitanium for riders to experience some beautiful titanium frames. Wet & slippery were the words of the day.
