The Paddock Cluster Housing Recognised in the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards

The Paddock Cluster Housing has been recognised in the 2026 Australian Good Design Awards, Australia’s longest-running international design awards, for excellence in design, innovation and impact.

This year’s Awards are presented under the theme Design that Leads - celebrating the critical role of design in navigating complexity, driving innovation and creating positive change.

At a time of unprecedented social, environmental and technological change, this year’s theme recognises that good design is more than an outcome, it is a powerful way of thinking, imagining and acting. It challenges us to question what is, envision what could be and design better products, services, places and systems for people and planet.

Among this year’s Award Winners is The Paddock Cluster Housing, which received a prestigious 2026 Australian Good Design Award Gold Winner in the Built Environment Architectural Design category.

JURY COMMENTS:
“The Jury commends The Paddock Cluster Housing as an exceptional model for regenerative residential design that redefines medium-density living through collective governance, ecological restoration and shared resource infrastructure. The project demonstrates remarkable integration of architecture, landscape and community systems, achieving 67 persons per hectare density with only 11% site coverage while becoming a net exporter of electricity and dedicating 35% of the site to food production. The Jury recognises this as a highly ambitious development that establishes a compelling benchmark for socially and environmentally resilient housing futures, providing critical mass for combined systems and the ability to share goods and services at sufficient scale. It serves as a valuable case study on biodiversity and regenerative design.” by @crosbyarchitects

The Paddock won the Multi Res category of the 2025 Sustainability Awards on Wednesday night in Sydney.
