I feel like I finally can say I sent a true V6. Spent three weeks working on this on and off and today I finally linked all the moves together. Now I just gotta work on climbing harder than a V4 on overhang 🫠 by @cross.climbs

Wouldn’t recommend competing on two pulled hamstrings, but hey, it’s good to know I can still climb competitively after feeling like poop. BPO was fun with some really cool routes that pushed me while still feeling within reach. I am really proud of myself for completing so many routes while feeling mentally very timid.

Anyways, it’s more rehab for me and likely no climbing comps until 2027 (but I make no promises…) by @cross.climbs

So frustrating to have worked so hard only to feel like I’ve either not progressed or gotten worse. Guess that’s what 2-3 months off of regular training/climbing will do 🤷‍♀️

Anyways, my skin felt like it was on fire while completing this one. I miss my callouses 😭 by @cross.climbs

The injury is feeling better and better each week, and with that my confidence on the wall is slowly but surely coming back! Excited to be jumping around a bit ☺️ by @cross.climbs

3 weeks post injury and the progression is slow but hopeful. The kilter board has become my new favorite thing, though 💕 by @cross.climbs

A week ago I thought I had completely ruptured something in my leg. I couldn’t put any weight on it and it hurt just lying down. Today, I can walk, squat, and climb with three limbs on the kilter board.

In all my training for the past year my focus was two things: medal at the CNQE and make finals at nationals. During all that time I forgot another key aspect of training: the ability to recover quickly and prevent serious injury. Despite the initial pain, I only sustained a partial tear in my hamstring, meaning recovery is on the order of weeks rather than months. To say I am relieved is an understatement. I will have PT and some rehab on my leg, but the doctors think I can be back on the wall (using two legs 😂) in a month and at full capacity in about three.

I didn’t make finals at nationals, but I am so proud of my training and how it has made my body resilient 🩵 by @cross.climbs

My collegiate nationals highlight ✨ I was one of two people to get the high zone on this boulder. It’s a bit sad I fumbled the last bit cause the end seemed pretty fun. by @cross.climbs

I’m pretty devastated. I’m leaving collegiate nationals 1 spot away from finals and with a possible ligament tear in my hip. It’s looking likely to be a full tear, needing surgery and up to 6+ months of recovery. An MRI will give us the final diagnosis, but I find it hard to be hopeful given the amount of pain I am in at near every move.

I’ve been here before. I’ve torn both my ACLs, but to be faced with yet another ligament tear and yet another 6-12 months feeling weak and helpless is soul crushing. I know it’s possible to come back stronger - I know I am capable of it - but right now I just feel utterly defeated.

In the spirit of finding the silver lining to every situation, I am so glad I got to compete in the first place. I’ve trained so hard for this on top of finishing a Ph.D., and I am slowly but surely seeing improvements this year, even if the outcome today didnt fully show it. With the injury, my time off will be well spent resting and setting up my at-home hangboard. If I can’t be on the wall then I can at least get fingers and shoulders of steel 😅 by @cross.climbs
