A quick demonstration of a chopped / screwed / warped / mangled cassette interlude I will be providing between bands at an as yet unannounced show in Stockport next month. Your ears will have no rest! The doors and windows will be locked and you will be made to eat your cigarettes. You will be made to eat the tobacco that I myself sold to you moments before.
Cassette Walkman and loop pedal with built in effects.

Listen back to my recent @narr.radio show, no chatter just bangers, several of which my band AGTIC NLP were jamming in the car as @fee.fye.fofum drove us down to Bristol for Monochrome fest. Altho I don’t seem to do as much digging these days I’m v grateful to have great friends with great taste so I don’t have to rely on algorithms and the like. Slide for tracklist, link in bio.

Unearthed visual document! Capturing
@green_layer_staircase bemusing, enchanting & confounding the locals of her hometown whilst on a busking mission in Bangor / Gwynnedd, these clips captured on vhs with my shaky hands outside the cathedral in April 2022. A seem to remember a coffee shop owner trying to get a PCSO to shut it down but he had no power. Interesting busking can be done! At least in Bangor. Crush Zone welcomes Parisian freak-guitar destroyer Nina Garcia (fka Mariachi) on the Manchester leg of her euro tour, in support of her debut solo record ‘Bye Bye Bird’ out on Stephen O’Malley’s Ideologic Organ label…

‘Since 2015, Nina Garcia has been researching and creating around the electric guitar, halfway between improvised music and noise.
On numerous stages in Europe and North America, she has played occasionally with Stephen O’Malley, Sophie Agnel, Fred Frith, Antoine Chessex, Louis Schild or with Luke Stewart and Leila Bordreuil’s Feedback Ensemble, in addition to more regular formations in which she participates, such as the ensemble Le Un, mamiedaragon, Autoreverse (with Arnaud Rivière), duets with trombonist Maria Bertel and percussionist Camille Émaille, and the installation piece De Haut En Bas, De Bas En Haut Et Latéralement (with Christophe Cardoen, Jennifer Caubet, Etienne Foyer, Anna Gaïotti and Romain Simon).’

‘Nina Garcia has been actively moving the art of noise guitar into surprising and intriguing new spaces. She has been at it for some time now, a bit of a secret weapon all the while hiding in plain sight. ELEVENTH HOUR GIG ANNOUNCEMENT! AND IT’S A YEXXEN HOUR!💥

After a diary mix up 🫠 CZR & KLANG! join forces once more to save the day 🎉 and bring Berliner noise improv freaks YEXXEN to brighten up the grey skies of Manchester.

YEXXEN is a new group that features members of such bands as Guttersnipe, Nape Neck, Cuntroaches, Las Migriañas & Sofia Salvo who last year released her debut solo effort on NYC’s Relative Pitch Records. Slide guitar, baritone sax, drums and electronics combine in a maniacal, caustic fury that seeps deep into the noggin.

Leucotome’s self-titled demo cassette has landed! I am so proud to help bring this object into the world. Fresh off the back of a captivating set supporting the ineffable @tristwch_y_fenywod in Manchester, now is your chance to own the 3-piece’s first output. Swaying between the earnestly jangle-wist of 4-piece era Strawberry Switchblade & cold-blooded vocal epistles atop kosmiche guitar/synth-scapes, impressively 4 out of the 6 tracks were recorded briskly in one take (and the other two in 2 takes) by myself (Cal) w @garyrobertfisher at their practise space, Wellington House, in Ancoats last summer during the infancy of the band, with just a few local shows under their belt. Mastered by @green_layer_staircase Photos of the band by @maddiedraake (who also stood in for @megan.robinson_ on guitar during the last few gigs)
‘An eldritch, ceremonial offering from the post-punk wasteland of Greater Manchester. Although said with the customary sneer of a Yorkshire rival, Leucotome are the perfect agglomeration of everything that was good about those legendary Factory Records bands and other 1979-82 flange-pedal covens - especially the more skeletal- and abject-sounding groups, like Section 25 and AC Marias. A fellow contemporary trio of northern women, this band’s stark, polemical and surreal compositions are thoroughly anti-macho and brimming with crazed, feminine vitriol. After the inaugural pagan guitar gestures, harrowed vocals and unearthly electronics have intoned a rite of ancient, cosmic woe, the trio reveal a lugubrious and woozy winter solstice pop that sounds like a Some Bizzare synthesis of Danielle Dax, Skank Bloc Bologna and a less Germanic H.N.A.S.. GA’ - Vymethoxy Redspiders (Tristwch y Fenywod, Ephemeron Loop, Guttersnipe)
Extremely limited edition of 30 (and 8 are already gone!)

Lovingly dubbed one by one by yours truly. The EP plays in full on both sides. Sea foam green tapes.
