What if the problem isn’t you? What if you’ve simply outgrown the structure that’s supporting your life, work, or leadership? That realization hit me while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.I trained for the mountain like I trained for a marathon.I quickly learned they weren’t the same race. That experience became one of the biggest leadership lessons of my life.My newest essay explores why growth often requires more than working harder—it requires releasing outgrown structures. If you’ve ever felt like success has become heavier instead of lighter, I wrote this for you.🔗 Link in bio.Question: What’s one structure in your life you’ve outgrown?@afrikabisatours @mountainsandmarathons by @crystalhadnott

Six years ago, cancer entered our story. What I didn’t know then was that it would also deepen one of the greatest relationships of my life.Dad, I never imagined that after all these years, we could become even closer than we already were. Yet somehow, through every appointment, every treatment, every good report, every setback, every phone call, every ordinary day that became a gift, we’ve found our way to a deeper place.People often talk about caregiving as sacrifice. And yes, there are EXTREMELY hard days. There are days filled with worry, exhaustion, and uncertainty. But what they don’t talk about enough is the privilege. The privilege of more conversations. The privilege of more memories. The privilege of hearing the stories one more time. The privilege of one more laugh and one more dance. The privilege of sitting together in silence and knowing it means everything.Cancer has taken many things from our family, including my incredible mother. But in a strange way, it has also given me something I never expected: a deeper appreciation for every moment I get to spend with you.I don’t rush through our conversations anymore.I don’t take our time for granted.I pay attention to the little things.Because I know now what a gift they are.Dad, thank you for your strength, your resilience, your humor, and your unwavering spirit. Thank you for showing me what courage looks like—not in grand moments, but in the decision to keep showing up, day after day.As your daughter, I am proud of you.As your caregiver, I am honored. And as someone who gets to walk beside you through this chapter, I am grateful beyond words.Happy Father’s Day to the man who taught me how to be strong, and who continues to teach me how to love.I love you, Dad. ❤️#fathersday #girldad #daddysgirl by @crystalhadnott

I have an announcement — and I am genuinely excited about this one. 🎉I will be speaking at the 2026 Leadership Redefined Conference in Houston, Texas — September 15–16.This is a conference for women who lead at the mid and senior-level and are done pretending the work is simpler than it is. The sessions on this stage are tackling things like: what AI is actually doing to how we make decisions. What it looks like to build power without a title. Why some of our most capable leaders keep hitting a wall and what that has to do with regulation, not ambition. What real accountability looks like when it coexists with real care. I am bringing my own piece of that conversation.I’m bringing a conversation about what it means to lead, perform, and expand in heavy times without abandoning yourself in the process. This is for the woman leader who knows she is called to the next level, but refuses to sacrifice her identity, well-being, or humanity to get there.Tickets start at $399.Come to Houston. Let’s be in this room together. ➡️ Register by clicking the link in the comments#LeadershipRedefined #RiseWholeLeadHuman #WomenLeadership #HoustonConference #Speaker by @crystalhadnott

For many people, the story of Africa is still framed through the lens of charity. But what if we started viewing it through the lens of investment?Recently, I had the opportunity to join the @butfirstcoffee.et podcast with @keepin_it_ki_ya and @hawibussa in Ethiopia to discuss the work of the @ethiopiatrustfund and why our approach is unique. At EDTF, we believe sustainable development happens when we invest in people, communities, and systems. That means supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses, helping build schools, partnering on healthcare initiatives, and creating pathways for long-term growth and opportunity. One of the things I love most about this work is that it challenges the narrative that development is about handouts. Instead, it’s about partnership, capacity building, and creating the conditions for communities to thrive. As someone who has spent my career helping organizations secure resources and build sustainable impact, it is incredibly meaningful to apply those skills to a continent that holds a special place in my heart.Africa is not a project to be saved. It is a place of innovation, resilience, talent, and possibility. And I am honored to play a small role in helping connect the global diaspora to opportunities that create lasting impact.Watch this clip and head over to YouTube for the full episode: (link also in my bio)#Ethiopia #Philanthropy #Fundraising #Investment #Africa by @crystalhadnott

I’ve spent most of my life being the aid station for everyone else. The caregiver. The leader. The problem solver. The strong one.But now in this space of ultramarathon running, I have learned something marathons never could:The longer the race, the less it becomes a test of resiliency and independence and the more it becomes a lesson in interdependence and reliance. My newest Substack essay, The Aid Station I Didn’t Know I Needed, is the first entry in The Second Race Diaries. If you’ve ever been the one carrying everyone else, this is for you.A reflection on what happens when the skills that got us here are no longer the skills we need next. The race that got you here is not the race you’re running now. It’s time to update your operating manual.Read more: http://bit.ly/43dZFQn by @crystalhadnott

Sometimes the reason you feel exhausted isn’t because you’re incapable. It’s because you’re carrying things you were never meant to sustain long term.Pressure.Expectations.Overcommitment.Old narratives.Emotional weight.Performance without recovery.Even runners know:the heavier the load, the harder the race becomes. At some point, sustainability requires release. Not everything you carried into this season is meant to go with you into the next.📍KNOW Summit @theknowwomen 🎥 @stephdorworth by @crystalhadnott

I just published a new piece on Substack that’s deeply personal to me.It’s about healing, movement, faith, resilience, and the realization that some breakthroughs don’t happen before the step…They happen during it.The piece is inspired by the scripture: “As they went, they were healed.” — Luke 17:14I reflect on my own journey—from paralysis to Pilates to marathon and ultramarathon running—and how I’ve learned that healing is often an active partnership instead of passive waiting. This one is for anyone navigating transition, recovery, uncertainty, grief, rebuilding, or becoming. And if you’re in a season of healing and learning how to keep moving forward in faith, my devotional, Rise and Run, was created to walk alongside you in that journey as well. (more about the devotional here: https://crystalhadnott.com/books) If this resonates with you, I’d truly love for you to read the piece and leave your thoughts in the comments.Because sometimes the miracle doesn’t happen before movement…Sometimes it happens as we go.Read the Substack Article: https://performancerecalibration.substack.com/p/as-they-went-they-were-healedBoth links are also in my bio. by @crystalhadnott
