Introducing my newest offering - The Umcomplicated Artist Movment - on Patreon!

It’s been months of deliberation - of what can I offer to this community of budding floral artists - that isn’t already out there. And what came to me, upon sitting in reflection and listening closely, is to simply show up as me.

Thus this movement is born. The Uncomplicated Artist wants to deepen her relationship with herself, with the flow, and wants a space where she can be heard, seen, and felt in safe space, surrounded by other deeply feeling artists as well.

It’s a gathering of souls that is wish to savour in the joys of painting loosely, painting freely and painting with non-judgement and joy.

I bring this movement to you via Patreon. And it’s got 2 simple, uncomplicated tiers.

Hello. Thought I’d pop my face in here to say hello! And maybe tell you a few things about me - in case you just starting following me! (Thank u by the way!)

My name is Crystal, and am originally from Singapore. But now live in the Upper Yarra Valley, in Victoria, Australia with my husband, 2 primary school aged boys, a Cavoodle pup, and 2 pet rats.

I started out in the world of advertising and marketing, but left it after burning out in my late twenties to search for the meaning of life through wwoofing (working on organic farms around the world) and fell in love with nature and growing our own food and slow living.

Along the way I discovered yoga and became a yoga teacher. And have been teaching Part time alongside raising kids in the past decade or so. My yoga insta channel here in case you’re curious @crystaltanyoga

So this background of falling in love with nature + yoga + watercolour has given this insight and language into the magic, the flow and the healing qualities of watercolour painting. I’m seeing the similarities between the 3 things, how they are intertwined at the heart of things. And it’s something I’m exploring and discovering with every painting I create, every yoga class I teach, and every nature hike I take.

Guess what I’m saying is that now in my mid 40s, I feel so incredibly blessed to been on this continuous journey of self discovery, truth seeking and now, my unique voice on this new stage of creating art.

So that’s just my little share today. I wonder if any of you have similar journeys as mine. I won’t be surprised. Im just glad I took the leap at an early age to discover my purpose and meaning in life. And indeed I am still searching. But at this point I feel like I’m birthing something empowering for myself. And I’m very blessed to be able to share this with you all.

I was craving to do some abstract landscapes. Don’t know why. And so I found @stefangevers tutorial of this on YouTube and played with salt and a Stanley knife for texture. Totally recommend it! I just need to figure out a better colour palette for the ones I did on my own… by @crystaltanart
