It’s been a while since I’ve picked up a paintbrush, so of course I had to follow a tutorial from my favourite watercolour artist, @crystaltanart to brush off the cobwebs.

Poppies

A lesson from @crystaltanart. Thanks for inviting me to step outside my comfort zone, Crystal. I rarely add a background color after painting florals.

Whoops! It looks like I missed adding the leaf beneath the big peach poppy.

The 2026 Dangerous Females x Australian Artist Collective is ABOUT TO LAUNCH!!

We have a big collection of sensational original artworks of all sizes and mediums, donated by generous Aussie artists to create a cracking new floral design we will print on all your favourite merch. Our about-to-be-revealed design is created by cropping flowers out of all the donated art, and is put together by Brissy artist and former DV social worker @katequinnart in collaboration with @dangerousfemales and will be revealed sooooon!!

Here’s how you can get involved…

🌼Join us at the epic art exhibition opening night! Friday 30th October at The Nest, West End, Brisbane, from 6pm. Tickets are $35, link in bio to purchase. Attendees get first dibs on the new tees and merch, a chance to meet the artists, and first access to bid on the artworks (plus an awesome night of feminist frivolous fundraising fun)

🌼Visit the exhibition Saturday 31st October from 9-1, free entry. This is a chance to see the art exhibition in person and a great option if you can’t make the opening event.

🌼 Bid on an artwork! All pieces will be available to buy in an online auction, and will be shipped Australia wide to the highest bidders. Online auction opens to all Friday 30th Oct and closes Sunday 8 November. More info to follow.

🌼Buy a tee, tote, teatowel or sweater! Available in colours and sizes of your choice in our gorgeous new design from Friday 30 October. All funds raised go to frontline DV services. Limited edition run available until December, don’t miss out!

Insta limits tags in a caption but we will try to tag all the artists in the comments…please give them a follow as a way to say thanks for their very generous donation. In fact, we had about 250 artists apply to be involved, of which 40 were selected, which shows the kindness and generosity of our amazing creative community. Thank you so so much to all the wonderful people who applied to take part.

Poppy study following @crystaltanart ‘s tutorial 🌸 That bold 2nd layer takes some real courage, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! 😂
