#ToniMorrison

𝗧𝗮𝗿 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆
is a new literary and cultural journal published by the Toni Morrison Foundation!

In addition to being a #ConsultingEditor for Issue #2 🤸🏾‍♀️

I penned the cover feature on 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘔𝘢𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩'𝘴 𝘝𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 with @apiorkor
🔺
... and 3 #book reviews of:
𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘉𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘉𝘳𝘰𝘬𝘦𝘯 by @asantewawith1a
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘐𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳 by @auntiearaba_mariska64
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘙𝘦𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 by @akotowaa
🔺

From the magical photography of @aboya.8 to the horrors of galamsey and to diasporic renaissance, this issue offers no singular image of Ghana. #TarBaby is a chorus of contested visions, a crucible for complexity and radical imagination.

Voices, visuals and verses in Ewe, Twi, English, Fante, Pidgin break the inherited grammar of empire with a new syntax.

"There are conversations we need to have, have been having... How we arrived at our present status as distant relatives, or lost cousins, requires a four-hundred-year-old largely undocumented memoir. We need answers. Some days we have all the answers. We are the ones who survived, often unwhole. We are here, still, and we have so much to catch up on. So much work to do."

🥈 @whinnayentem
🥉 @_adult.tems_

Soyo Vi Zibo is the first poet to win the national slam twice, back-to-back! He will represent Ghana at the 2026 World Poetry Slam Championship in South Africa. 🔥

I was also a judge for the SheShe Slam held in March this year.
