Building things is fun, but so is taking them down! 😸
.
Today we said goodbye to A Home for Future Generations in Framingham and Natick. We salvaged a lot of the community painted shingles and the mural panels! We hope they will live happily in the local schools and public buildings in both municipalities!
.
Thank you so much to everyone who participated and made this project possible! Also @raquelfornasaro we make a really awesome team! Here’s hoping for future collaborations! 💚
.
Thanks so much Jillian @townofnatick, Shawn @officialframinghamma, @byggmeister Jane Ellen @morseinstitute for making all of this happen! by @csekojulia

Almost there! Come check out this site specific installation of Transcending Borders at the @h7gables I’ll be at Fusion Fest this Sunday August 2nd 12-5 pm handing out ribbons while they last.
.
Transcending Borders is inspired by a Brazilian custom, where people of all ages, backgrounds, religious beliefs, and nationalities come to the historical Church of Senhor do Bonfim in Salvador, Bahia, and tie a ribbon representing a wish on the fence surrounding the premises. Transcending Borders features over 2,000 brightly colored ribbons featuring the phrase YOU ARE WELCOME HERE in several languages commonly spoken by immigrant populations of greater Boston. The public is invited to take a ribbon and engage with the piece through a QR code and a mailbox, allowing participants to share stories about immigration. The AR integration leads to organizations that support immigrant and refugee rights. taken in The House of the Seven Gables by @csekojulia

Still smiling after yesterday's opening of 𝘼 𝙃𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙂𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 💚

Seeing people gather around the work, share conversations, and experience it together was the best reward after months of collaboration.

A heartfelt thank you to Shawn Luz, Rebecca Nau, Jill Schindler, the Framingham Centre Common Cultural District and its board members, and Mayor Charlie Sisitsky for making the celebration so special. Your support of public art and community makes projects like this possible.

If you're in the area, I hope you'll stop by Framingham Centre Commons or visit its companion installation at Morse Institute Library in Natick.

Thank you, @officialframinghamma and @danforthartframingham, for championing public art. taken in Framingham Centre Common Cultural District by @csekojulia

Some behind the scenes during my @mosesianarts residency! I’m excited to be showing a partial installation of this piece titled DEMOCRACY IS A VERB AND SO IS LOVE at this beautiful gallery space! Seen here are flags printed with excerpts from the constitution being turned into letters that compose this 27x25ff modular piece… 😮

Two exhibitions opening this week!

Join us for the opening reception in our galleries following Treaty Day this Saturday, July 18, 5:00-7:00 PM.

📍 In conjunction with the 250th Anniversary Treaty Day Celebration, 'In This Place' commemorates the historic signing of the first treaty between the newly formed United States and the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet Nations. The exhibition features work by artists with connections to the Mi’kmaq and Maliseet Nations, as well as Indigenous artists with ties to the lands along the river now known as the Charles. The exhibition includes a wide range of media, including painting, drawing, illustration, photography, sculpture, mixed media, video, and sound.

🧵 We're thrilled to showcase the work of one of our Artists-in-Residence, @csekojulia with 'Social Fabric.' Through textiles, flags, and multimedia art installation, Csekö explores themes of belonging, identity, and collective responsibility. Centered around her monumental work DEMOCRACY IS A VERB AND SO IS LOVE, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on civic engagement as an ongoing act of care and shared humanity.

Both exhibitions will be on view July 16-August 28. by @csekojulia
