London Trans+ Pride 2026

Some of the people I photographed on 120mm film at London Trans+ Pride on 25th July 2026, mainly around Trafalgar Square. Over 150,000 people came together, trans people, queer people and allies, to stand up for trans rights, visibility and equality, making this the largest Trans+ Pride event ever.

Pride has always been a protest, and Trans+ Pride makes that clear. It exists because the fight for trans rights is far from over. As the government introduces policies and guidance that restrict trans people’s rights, including the new EHRC guidance on single sex spaces, trans people continue to face barriers to healthcare, public spaces and living freely and equally. taken in London, United Kingdom by @csian99

London Trans+ Pride 2026 @londontranspride
Part 2 of 2

As I walked through the streets of London for Trans+ Pride, I was surrounded by the sounds of brass band playing SOPHIE’s “Immaterial,” the relentless beat of drums, and over 150,000 voices. Together, they created the heartbeat of the march as a wave of blue, pink, and white flags flowed towards Trafalgar Square. Signs declaring “Nothing is Right Without Trans Rights” and “Trans Rights are Human Rights” rose high. There was laughter, dancing, anger, and defiance, it was a reminder that Pride is both a celebration of identity and a protest against injustice.

I joined the march with my camera, not as an observer standing on the side, but as part of the crowd. I could only capture fragments of a much bigger story, moments that reflect the joy, resilience and solidarity of a community refusing to be silenced. These photographs are my way of showing not only the beauty of Trans+ Pride, but also why it continues to matter.

As part of the gay community, I know the rights I have today were won through decades of protest by those who came before me. Supporting the trans community feels like continuing that legacy. As trans people in the UK face increasing discrimination and hostility with the far right on the rise, it is still important we stand together. Unlike many commercial Pride events, this one is volunteer-run and free from corporate sponsorship, keeping the emphasis on community over branding, with a message heard throughout the streets: Pride is a protest.

Friends, families and allies marched side by side, showing that this community thrives on love as much as resistance. While we celebrated in London, reports of violent attacks at Pride events in Berlin reminded us that gathering to celebrate who we are can carry real risks.

These photographs preserve the spirit of that day, capturing fragments of a single march that together tell the story of a community determined not to be erased. As a photographer and LGBTQIA+ member, I hope these images convey that Pride is not just celebration. It is an act of resistance, a celebration of joy, and a testament to our enduring strength. taken in London, United Kingdom by @csian99
