Marisa’s dedication leaves a lasting impact on the School of Nursing every single day. Through her leadership of the Clinical Placement/Document Team, she ensures our students secure timely, meaningful clinical placements while seamlessly navigating complex regulatory requirements. Her strong collaborations with clinical partners have even expanded vital clinical experiences that serve vulnerable communities. 🏥💙

Walking a mile in someone else’s shoes. 👟💼

What does it actually feel like to navigate the cycle of poverty?

Over 120 HHD students recently stepped out of the classroom and into the shoes of those facing real-world hardships. From fighting to secure housing to managing utility shut-off notices, our future health professionals practiced the one thing you can’t learn from a textbook: Empathy. 🤝

A massive thank you to Professor Maria Matza and the IRA grants for making these vital, eye-opening learning opportunities possible. We aren’t just studying health and human development—we’re learning how to be true advocates for our community. 🧡💙

Sophia Santana, a Cal State Fullerton nursing student, lived that truth at Astroworld. Knocked down in the crowd, she got back up, searched for anyone who needed help, and performed CPR for over an hour—keeping a young man alive until medics arrived.

Dissemination Day at KPSA–CSUF was a powerful celebration of DNP scholarship and CRNA leadership 🎓✨ Our students presented innovative, practice-changing projects spanning fresh gas flow optimization with sevoflurane, anesthesia outcomes after carotid endarterectomy, patient care experiences, maternal morbidity prediction, postoperative airway safety, awake flexible intubation education, ultrasound-guided arterial line training, and perioperative glucose decision support. Each project reflected rigorous inquiry, clinical relevance, and a commitment to improving patient safety and quality of care 🩺📊 Proud of our DNP scholars for translating evidence into real-world impact and shaping the future of nurse anesthesia. 👏
