Yesterday, our museum team visited the YMCA in Athlone for an outreach programme filled with childhood games and a fun arts & crafts activity.

We had so much fun and we hope you did too!

Join Bomikazi for a story reading session this Saturday, 10 October from 11:00am - 11:45am at the museum.

Come meet Hugless Douglas as we read, cuddle, and discover why hugs mean so much. Bring your own plushy toy or teddy to cuddle along too.

Perfect for little ones who love stories, snuggles, and a bit of adventure.

Please note that the museum will be closing at 2pm.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Heritage Day screening of actionkommandant, produced by Nadine Cloete. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of this powerful documentary, and what a fitting time to revisit it. It was an informative and moving session with thoughtful, engaging dialogue. We are grateful to all who took the time to be part of this important screening.

Last week we hosted our second Pocket Stories: Real to Reel workshop! This week our young filmmakers explored the art of visual storytelling - learning how to use different shots and filming techniques to bring their stories to life. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity and confidence grow each week. Thank you to the @cityofct for sponsoring this project and for making these opportunities possible.

It’s Sara’s first day at school and she realizes she can’t understand what her classmates are saying. Her teacher encourages her to discover the many different ways we can say “hello”.

In the lead up to Heritage Day on 24 September, join our very own Bomikazi as we learn how to greet each other in all of South Africa’s beautiful languages! This wonderful children's book is written by the beautiful and talented @refiloemoahloli
