HEAT CHECK 2

this June 5th check out my new project HEAT CHECK 2 - available on my Bandcamp. Here are the first few tracks.

This project was the immediate follow up to the first HEAT CHECK. I was still riding that same energy of making hella gritty music with only the OG SP404 but I was trying to tap into a more specific feeling with the sample choices.

here, the beats are paired with some of my photography that didn’t previously make it out of the cutting room. One of them ended up being the cover art. by @cuauhtlito

more random thoughts on the MPC live 3. Mostly doing this to think about what I can do to learn the MPC environment better and get over that learning curve.

Things I do like:

1. I/O. USB c sampling is great and also are the phono ins.

2. portability/ standaloneability I guess

3. Step sequencer

4. MPCe pad articulations

4 ALL MY MASCHINE HOMIES

Here are 5 things that I think the Maschine hardware does way better than the MPC. Tell me if I’m wrong tho!!!! Still learning the MPC world.

1. Better view of your groups ( aka tracks ) and what samples are on what pads

2. The default Maschine sampler plugin and its capabilities

3. Moving midi up and down an octave or semitone

4. No arbitrary plugin limit

5. STEP UNDO

It’s been a minute since I posted a beat! Been busy on my photography grind. But I’ve been getting the hang of the MPC Live 3 now that I’ve had it about 2 weeks. I’m definitely enjoying exploring all it can do. My biggest challenge so far is just navigating the UI and doing all the basic stuff that is muscle memory to me when I’m on the Maschine Plus.
