As the 2025-26 Bar Society Committee signs off, we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us this year.

Together, we've achieved so much:
✨ Record membership within the first two weeks of the academic year, with continued growth throughout the year.
🤝 Quadrupled our sponsorships while expanding partnerships with chambers, legal organisations, charities, external organisations and universities across the UK.
🏆 Won 'Outstanding Achievement' at the SVMAs, alongside nominations for 'Most Improved Society' and 'Best Collaborative Event'.
🏅 Received four nominations at the LCN Student Society Awards, including 'Best Society Overall' - making us the first and only Cardiff University law society to be nominated for this award.
👕 Launched Bar Society merchandise for the very first time.
💎Became a Platinum Tier Society - the highest level of recognition within the CU SU.

Most importantly, we've remained committed to improving access to the Bar by creating opportunities to develop skills, gain experience and build a supportive community for aspiring barristers.

Thank you to every member, sponsor, speaker, and partner who made this year so special. We are incredibly proud of what we built this year and can't wait to see the Society grow even further.

Here's to another fantastic year for Cardiff Bar Society! ❤️ by @cubarsoc

Bar Society is officially a Platinum Society!

In only our third year running, BarSoc has jumped from an untiered society to platinum- the highest level of recognition in the Students’ Union Tier System. This is for societies that have gone above and beyond by demonstrating exceptional levels of member engagement, community impact, and outstanding administration throughout the academic year.

It means we completed all 67 tasks on the SU tier system, involving a broad range of events, initiatives, and administrative tasks. These tasks revolves around our own goals: increasing inclusivity and diversity, offering large number of high level varied events, and becoming an ambitious, growth-oriented society.

We’re incredibly proud to share that the Bar Society has been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s Students’ Union Societies, Volunteering & Media Awards (SMVAs), in addition to being shortlisted for Most Improved Society and Best Collaborative Event.

This award was in recognition of our initiative to host the Law School’s third-year internal mooting final at the Supreme Court, judged by a Supreme Court Justice. It reflects the dedication of our committee and our commitment to creating ambitious opportunities that help students develop their skills and increase access to the Bar.

As a new and growing society, this was our first year being nominated- let alone winning!

Thank you to everyone who nominated and supported us this year. We’re so grateful for your support and can’t wait to show you what’s next! by @cubarsoc
