HURRAH (If it’s so sad then why are we all here)* is a sunset performance dinner pre-after-party in which we welcome guests to say HURRAH. Rooted in melodic cries, calamitous exclamations and a simultaneous hello goodbye hello, SAM(S) invite you to a night of immediate, amateur and surrealist performance. To offer a HURRAH to the exhibition that took your heart, gossiping at the bike stand, the cig by the door. HURRAH; to a dying dog, a little carboot mini or an ex! It’s up to you! HURRAH participation is welcomed but not compulsory. «« DETAILS »» Date: Sunday 8th November Doors: 1 hour before sunset (15:21) Start: Sunset (16:21) Close: 2 hours after sunset (18:21) Entry: FREE Address: Cubitt, 8 Angel Mews, London N1 9HH «« LET ME SAY HURRAH »» Sign up by emailing. Cubitt Artists, an internationally-recognised gallery, studios, and cultural programme, and the last remaining artist-run studios and gallery in central London. We’ve launched our fundraising campaign to secure our future in London as we prepare to leave our home of over twenty-five years later this year. 🏡We need your help to raise £100,000 and continue our long history of supporting experimental artistic and curatorial practice, world-leading educational and community programmes, deeply embedded civic work, and our continued provision of affordable studios for artists. 🔧🔨 Donate via the link in bio 📩 This fundraiser will support our costs associated with: 🔧 Leaving our current building and managing dilapidation costs. 📦 Moving to our new home – currently under negotiation. 🤝Management of this transitory phase during a key moment in our history, with support for staff, studio artists, and associated groups at Cubitt. Please share, donate, and support us in our efforts to continue decades of leading cultural work in the heart of London. Click the link in our bio to donate or support! by @cubitt_gallery
We are elated to welcome Samuel Lanchin and Samra Mayanja, or simply SAM(S), as Cubitt Curatorial Fellows (2026 - 2028). — 𝑨 𝒅𝒖𝒐, 𝒂 𝒅𝒖𝒆𝒕; 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝒄𝒐𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏.— Their programme entitled « 𝑫𝒖𝒆𝒕𝒔 » looks to the duo as a framework; be it the relationship between two people, a lifelong conversation with an event and/or the space between one and another. Within this dance, what sustains (or destroys)? SAM(S) have been besties and loving collaborators for 10 years working in crevices and moving through the muck. Samuel Lanchin is an artist-technician who builds material and immaterial infrastructure for artists’ moving image. From 2023-24 he ran NIGHT VISION; a temporary outdoor cinema at iconic co-operative, Wharf Chambers (Leeds). @1samchin Samra Mayanja is an artist-writer. She curates THE CALL CENTRE in her studio; a prolific performance programme centering artists concerned with the voice and the unspeakable. @newyearr_newmee Cultural infrastructure starts with at least two people deciding to support one another ……‘It takes (at least) two baby!’ ✏️: Mauro (Leicester Square) by @cubitt_gallery
Live on Cubitt Community Radio Distribution Models with Clara Balaguer | Radio Broadcast and Live Presentation Saturday 14th November, 5 - 7 PM Cubitt Gallery and Online on CCR Mixcloud Publishing can be a radical redistribution of cultural resources and capital. Central to this is distribution: ensuring that information, knowledge, and connection circulate within the communities and spaces where they are most needed. Community publishing pushes against the hoarding of resources and opens up access to information, platforms and reach. This discussion and presentation led by Clara Balaguer explores distribution, asking: What does it mean to treat distribution as a core part of our publishing practice? This event will be live streamed on Cubitt Community Radio, with a live audience in the studio. Clara Balaguer is a cultural worker interested in the decolonisation of cultural production most especially through the lens of the contemporary vernacular. She founded The Office of Culture and Design in 2010, a platform through which she articulates research, residencies, and social practice projects in the Philippines. She explores collaborative authorship through the clandestine publishing of Hardworking Goodlooking, a cottage-industry fuelled imprint she co-founded in 2013. by @cubitt_gallery
🧰 Upcoming Workshop: Why self-publish under fascism? A reading group with Danny Hayward 📚 Saturday 21 November, 2 - 5 PM Cubitt Book via the link in bio This session will host a collective reading of texts dealing with self-publishing as a tool in increasingly hostile informational landscapes. Together we will think about why we publish now, exploring the assumptions about reach and visibility produced by social media platform economies. The session takes the form of a reading and discussion space, drawing on Public Collector’s archive of radical texts on the infrastructures of publishing, what self-publishing makes possible and the many forms and questions working in community print contexts brings. What forms of publishing become possible when we shift our infrastructures? How might these be useful as we organise now and in the future? We will be reading: - Why self-publish under fascism? by Marc Fischer (Public Collectors, 2022) - How to Prepare Yourself for the Collapse of the Industrial Publishing System by Eric Schierloh (Public Collectors, 2022) - ISBN? No Thanks and Other Notes Before Starting a Publishing House by Barba de Abejas (Public Collectors, 2023) Limited edition risograph copies of each of the texts will be available to all participants. Danny Hayward will join us to co-facilitate the session. Public Collectors is founded upon the concern that there are many types of cultural artifacts that public libraries, museums and other institutions and archives either do not collect or do not make freely accessible. Public Collectors asks individuals that have had the luxury to amass, organize, and inventory these materials to help reverse this lack by making their collections public. by @cubitt_gallery

Upcoming Workshop: 🌀 Collective Editing with fisherwomxn Wednesday 4th November, 5 - 8 PM booking required, link in bio What does it mean to edit together as a shared practice? This workshop explores collective editing as a way of undoing fixed roles in publishing and moving towards more collaborative forms of making, shaping, and deciding through conversation. Building on their practice on collective editing, fisherwomxn will lead this session, bringing a hands-on, DIY approach to editing as a collective practice. Fisherwomxn is a group of cultural workers that engages with publishing, studying, writing, and translation as collective tools for thinking and making. Grounded in Cyprus, their practice looks to regional exchange in the eastern mediterranean and critiques eurocentric cultural hegemonies through feminist and anti-colonial perspectives. They approach collective work as a way of holding shared questions, building connections, and imagining forms of social relations. Fisherwomxn is organised by Seta Astreou-Karides, Miriam Gatt and Ioulita Toumazi.
