Meet the Peony Socks, a collaboration between Helen Stewart of @curioushandmade and Sara Warwick of @daffodilroadyarn as part of the Knit for the Girls 2026 'Down Under' Pattern Collection. 🎗️🩷 The Peony Socks are a calm, absorbing top down sock design, with just enough lace to hold your attention and plenty of easy rounds to carry you along. A twisted rib cuff and neat wedge toe complete the look. The Peony Socks were designed in Daffodil Road Plush Sock in the 'Check Your Peonies' sock set. The Knit for the Girls 'Down Under' Pattern Collection brings together some of our beloved Australian knit & crochet designers and hand-dyers, in support of the Knit for the Girls breast cancer research fundraiser for the @nbcfaus Discover six brand-new accessory patterns which have been designed in exclusive, pink-inspired colourways by some of our favourite 'down under' indie dyers, made exclusively for this year's collection. Each pairing brings together a designer's vision and a dyer's palette — created by fibre artists who wanted to lend their craft to a cause that's touched so many of us. Have you picked up any of the Shawl Society 6 single patterns since they've been available to buy separately? ⁠ ⁠ London Brick is such a lovely way to play with two colours, and @tinkhickman, my incredible test-knitter, made hers in two soft neutrals: so gentle and sophisticated, and so wearable, it would go with anything! ⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ----⁠ ⁠ London Brick Shawl by curioushandmade is the fifth design from The Shawl Society 6. 🤍⁠ ⁠ London Brick is an asymmetrical triangle shawl knitted in 4ply yarn. The combination of garter stitch and slipped stitches makes it such an enjoyable and relaxing knit. 🤍⁠ ⁠ I found two part used skeins in two different colours, but they’re mystery skeins as they had no labels! The colour palette of this beautiful Rockpooling Shawl is so soothing and sweet. My sample used three quiet shades of grey, and it's always a delight to see how it transforms with the colours other knitters choose. I love the interplay of pastels in this one (and it was all knit from stash, for extra joy!) Thank you @karolineakemp for letting me share this beautiful shawl.⁠ ⁠ The Rockpooling Shawl is a very cosy elongated triangle shawl with an easy slip-stitch pattern, knit in DK weight yarn. It was originally part of the Shawl Society 4 collection, which was themed around a perfect day at the beach. I had the pleasure of testing the Peony Socks, Helen’s contribution to the Knit for the Girls “Down Under” Pattern Collection which will raise funds in support of breast cancer research. There are more details over on louielolayarns IG account. I’ve used a pretty speckled skein from mrb_birdstreetyarn in the Rocco colour way for the main colour and oddments for the heels and toes. Our last MKAL was the Hedgerow Shawl, and I love seeing FOs still popping up. The stunning fade that @cosy_moments_journal used for this beauty was all leftovers! What a triumph. Thank you for letting me share!⁠ ⁠ ⁠ ----⁠ ⁠ It’s Finished Object Friday and I have a finished shawl! This beautiful pattern is from curioushandmade and it’s the Hedgerow Shawl which was released as a KAL earlier this year.⁠ ⁠ I knit it using a homemade magic knot ball of beautiful leftovers from other projects. When I make the knot balls, I always try to arrange the colours into a fade as I love how this looks. I'm so glad to finally say: cast on whenever you're ready.⁠ ⁠ A quick recap, in case you're new here. The Peony Socks are my design for the Knit for the Girls 2026 'Down Under' Pattern Collection: six Australian designers and hand-dyers, each pairing a brand-new accessory with an exclusive colourway, all in support of breast cancer research. A cause that's very personal to me.⁠ ⁠ @daffodilroadyarn and I collaborated for these socks. I designed them for a three-colour sock set she dyed specially, in the colourway "Check Your Peonies". Colours inspired by soft peony petals, a twisted rib cuff, a panel of eyelet lace, and lots of simple, potato-chippy sock knitting. ⁠ ⁠ Throughout October, 20% of pattern and yarn sales from the collection go to the official Knit for the Girls fundraiser.
