I have an original Sontec MEP-250 EX here which I´m planning to convert to a switched unit and offer for sale.

It sounds absolutely amazing, but potentiometerprecision as well as recallability is the usual PITA.
It has HS-2030 opamps (one spare included) and also discrete opamps on the filtercards. This is the real deal!
It is going to be taken apart and given a nice set of ELMA A4 series rotary switches, a new housing and a new faceplate. The circuitbords stay untouched.

So if someone is interrested to jump onto this opportunity let me know. It is early in the process so it would be possible to customize things from the ground up:

The simplest conversion would be the HDE-250 format (little pic in the middle)….typical dual 5 band framework.
Some more effort would take the MES-432 format because the MES shelving section is diffrent and requires an extra pair of opamps…I´d rebuild the MES shelvings using an additional pair
of JLM HS-3099 opamps. 3rd option would be HDE 450 format….full stereo unit all ELMA switches, 5 parametric bands plus the MES shelvings with multiple
frequency points (shelving section rebuild with JLM HS-3099)

Output: Cinemag CMOQ-2H (Nickel), Sowter 4652 (Silicon Iron)

Had this buddy in the shop for some maintenance. Almost 15 years on the clock …time flies…Took the chance to snap some better pics than 15 years ago.
It´s a passive stereo tube EQ… 4 boost bands…the bands are true parallel which is not achievable with potentiometers. All 4 boost switches are connected to the same resistor network (Kinda like a potentiometer with 4 wipers). The old Sphere EQs used the same principle. The effect is that overlapping bands do not add up but kind of blend into each other. by @customaudiogermany
