nobody told us a film about weather forecasting would be the most tense cinema experience of the year 🌧️ (and also a laugh)

Pressure isn't what you expect walking in. It's a 72-hour World War II drama about a Scottish meteorologist and D-Day - and it will make you laugh, hold your breath, and sit completely still in your seat, sometimes all at once. Andrew Scott, David Haig and Anthony Maras joined us to talk about why the humour was never incidental, what it takes to play a man made entirely of containment, and why the weather might just be the film's greatest performance.

David Haig wrote the original stage play. Anthony Maras brought it to the screen. Andrew Scott carries it. Between the three of them, they've made something that feels nothing like a history lesson - and everything like watching personalities clash in real time, with the fate of the free world quietly hanging over all of it.

give 👏 Olivia 👏 Wilde 👏 all 👏 the 👏 flowers 👏

Before The Invite had even hit cinemas, there was a post-festival Letterboxd review reading "Olivia Wilde directed the sh*t out of this film," and, well, they were right. Edward Norton's since called working with Wilde one of the highlights of his career, and Wilde could talk about working with this cast forever.

The Invite, written by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, had a very different journey to the screen before Wilde came on board - with a different director and cast originally attached. Stepping into its world, she worked with her costars Seth Rogen, Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz to develop the characters and shape them into the people we see on screen. We can't speak for the version that could've been, but it really does feel like this needed Wilde and Wilde needed this film.

There was no one more perfect for #Supergirl than millyalcock, and our chat with director #CraigGillespie proves that.

After originally being cast by #JamesGunn in Superman (2025), Milly's effortlessness and inherent punk attitude did a lot for shaping who Kara is and becomes in this year's adaptation of #WomanofTomorrow 🕶️

Woman of Tomorrow on the page is vivid, chaotic, maximalist. Craig Gillespie took one look at Ana Nogueira's script and decided to go somewhere else entirely - into the grit, the poverty, the texture of worlds on the fringes of society. A space, as he puts it, we hadn't felt before.

"the appetite for people's social advancement is unabated, it's human nature" is what Richard E. Grant realised when his visit to Windsor Castle for King Charles's coronation quickly turned not-so-polite 😬

Director, Peter Glanz, says that period films allow us to be a step removed, to look in the mirror and see ourselves - and hopefully laugh at ourselves - without the preconceived baggage of modern life. Exploring the timeless obsession with social advancement through 18th century social climbers Sir Chauncey and Lady Savage (Richard E. Grant and Claire Foy).

Enter: Savage House.

Curiously inspired by the events of 6th January 2021, it channels the madness of the world we live in into two of maddest people in this fictional world: Sir Chauncey Savage (Richard E. Grant) and Lady Savage (Claire Foy).
