Somewhere along the way, RV camping got a little louder and a little more crowded…honestly way more than just a little.

We built Cuyuna Range Campground to bring it back to something simpler. We built it for people who want a quieter, more nostalgic way to RV camp, without giving up the convenience of full hookups or proximity to towns and activities.

It’s not for everyone (and that’s intentional)…

But if you’re into wooded RV sites, slower mornings, daytime adventures, sharing stories from the day while relaxing by the campfire…you’ll fit right in.

We have a bunch of new followers since we first introduced ourselves - Cuyuna Range Campground is owned and operated by husband and wife team, Dan and Angela Ugstad!

We are looking forward to meeting our first guests in just 8 weeks! 😳🤩

Some fun facts about us:
👩‍❤️‍👨 We are high school sweethearts. 🥰 This year, we will have been together for 22 years and married for 14 of those years! We make it a point to go on day-dates nearly every Friday afternoon - it’s much needed time for us to connect in the midst of starting the campground, raising two beautiful kiddos and work (Angela works remotely as an Actuary 🤓🔢 and Dan runs his own real estate investment business @northern_lakes_equities 🏠).
Say hi if you see us out and about!

🏡 We moved our family to the Cuyuna Area in the summer of 2020. We have enjoyed being a part of a community and area where there are so many opportunities to get outside year-round!

🚜 One of our favorite pieces of machinery is our wheel loader - we’ve used that bad boy to help clear land, move dirt and pile fallen trees. The toys only get bigger as you get older.

🍻 We love checking out new and different breweries! Some of our local favorites are @cuyunabrewing, @snarkyloonbrewing and @jackpinebrewery!

🏔 Our absolute favorite place to visit is Alaska (third picture in the reel)! We first visited in 2011 and have gone every 5 years since. Counting the days until our next trip in 2026! We got inspiration for the feel of Cuyuna Range Campground when visiting @denalinps two years ago.

Have you ever started missing a moment while you’re still living it? 🥹🍂

That’s how this entire past weekend felt for me.

I really struggle with balancing being present in the moment and wanting to capture it in photos and videos so I can look back days, months, or years later and relive it all.

I don’t want to forget any of it. But I swear my memory is getting worse with age. There are photos buried deep in my camera roll that I have literally ZERO memory of taking. 😅

And sometimes I wonder if that’s actually an age thing, or if I’ve just become so reliant on my phone to remember everything for me. 🤔

When I was younger, we’d bring 1 or 2 disposable cameras on an entire family vacation. 48 photos TOPS for the whole trip! You had to be picky about what you photographed, and you had absolutely no idea how any of them turned out until you got them developed.

Now? I take 48 photos on a single hour-long hike. 😂 Multiple shots of the exact same thing because someone’s eyes were closed or someone’s hair looked weird. And of those 48 photos, there are probably only 5-10 I’d ever actually share or print.

Yet somehow, I have more vivid memories of certain moments from 20+ years ago than I do of things we did last year.

ANYWAY. That’s my little existential crisis for the day. 😂

Have you figured out how to balance actually living the moments with wanting to capture them so you never forget? Because I’d genuinely love to know. 🧡

Anyone else have this problem?

I tried a new-to-me lake this morning for a sunrise kayak, just 5 minutes from the campground. I brought a thermos of freshly brewed coffee, homemade maple creamer, and a homemade marshmallow from a friend. 🤤🤩

It was one of those crisp, clear, fall mornings with just a hint of a breeze that made me appreciate the hot coffee even more.

I paddled along the shoreline as the sun came up and watched all the fall colors slowly come to life around me. 🍂

Quite a way to start a Wednesday. ☕️🛶
