Like, I said before. I believe in magic. And 03.20.2024 will go down as one of those days filled with it in more ways than I ever dreamed of.

It was so easy to say yes to this dreamboat of a man. Especially after he included my kids in planning such a special engagement at such a special place!

I’ve realized over the past year that I have had a challenge with being vulnerable. Going forward it’s something that I am striving to be better at. I’ve been reading a lot of @brenebrown recently and I have learned that vulnerability goes hand-in-hand with courage. So.....this is me embracing courage, embracing who I am and embracing who I want to be.

Finally got to meet the newest member of the Call family! We had an absolute blast visiting my sister and brother in law in Raleigh, North Carolina over the weekend.

They’ve been all by themselves on the east coast for the last four years finishing grad school, starting careers, and now growing a family! I loved seeing them in their element and witnessing the life they’ve been building while living so far away from the rest of the family.

My sister is a lot like me when it comes to vacations. She crammed a lot into our short weekend trip and I was so impressed. We got to go on a nice walk through their cute green neighborhood, visit a local favorite coffee shop and enjoy some pumpkin donuts, hike at one of their favorite state parks, eat at V’s pizza, indulge in frozen custard from Goodberry’s, visit the local Page Farms pumpkin patch, lunch at Ideal’s sandwich shop in Durham, stroll through Duke University’s campus, see Duke hospital where Lu brother in law used to work, soak in the beauty at the Duke gardens, and get almost enough cuddle time with precious little Lady A.

She is such a little piece of heaven! Christmas can’t come soon enough when we get to see them again. by @cw_call

Episode 935: Cameron Call, Gay, Finding Hope/Building a Life After Divorce

My friend @cw_call (age 40, lives in Arizona, chiropractor, mixed orientation marriage for ten years, divorced seven years ago, father of three, married his husband 18 months ago) joins us to share his super vulnerable and powerful story:

• Navigating gay pornography as a teenager and his attraction to men

• Terrified he might be attracted to men—did everything he could to not be gay

• Serving a mission in Nashville Tennessee—positive experience

• Became EFY counselor and got married within a year after his mission

• Super honest about struggling with sexual intimacy. That—plus male infertility—caused Cameron to feel absolutely defeated

• Eventually came out as gay to his wife (positive experience).

• Tried to make the marriage work—but eventually it became clear the best path was to end their marriage.

• Divorce became the “healthy option”

• Cameron’s incredible parents and siblings—their lifesaving love and support. Pride flag at parents’ home

• Finding his husband and getting married 18 months ago—so much joy and happiness

• While out of the Church, supporting kids in the Church

• Navigating anger at the Church—how his family, especially his mom, has been a safe person

• Good relationship overall with his ex-wife and her new husband. They took a family trip with their entire blended family - six coparents and ten children.

Thank you, Cameron, for coming on the podcast and sharing your story. This is one of the finest episodes to know there is hope and a life after divorce. It is also a super powerful episode on the near impossible path our gay/lesbian members walk and the tradeoffs they face that straight people don’t face.

Was lucky enough to start a new decade of life in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. @tavitkazanjian surprised me for my 40th birthday by contacting my boss months ago and secretly getting time off approval for my birthday weekend. What a surprise! Two of our closest friends @hunsakermiles and @jim.was.jaimeblanco came along for the birthday celebration and we had an AMAZING time!

It was a dream trip filled with plenty of tacos, snorkeling, speedos, exploring hidden beaches, and making memories I’ll cherish forever. Cant wait to return to such a beautiful place.

Hopped over to Michigan to celebrate our good friend Bill turning 70! So much fun spending some time with him and his husband Terry and their friends. Got to visit the shores of Lake Michigan and the Fred Meijer gardens to see some pretty beautiful things before heading home from a whirlwind trip. Happy Birthday @hess739 !! by @cw_call

Was able to get up to Show Low for Family Day at Granger’s football camp. So proud of the work he put in this week. He’s never played football before and after seeing his brother play the last two years - and the results (height, strength, and speed) of the work he’s put in - he decided he wanted to try. Brought back a lot of memories when I played football for the first time my sophomore year in high school. Can’t believe my sons are starting their freshmen year next week! WHAT?! by @cw_call
