Her Dreams is a powerful cinematic drama based on true events, unfolding at the heart of the Black maternal health crisis in America. Set and filmed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the film pulses with urgency, resilience, and truth as it follows four interconnected journeys that illuminate the realities many families face but few stories have captured on screen.

At the center of the film is a Black expectant mother navigating pregnancy with both hope and fear, acutely aware of the risks that disproportionately threaten women who look like her. Alongside her story, we meet determined Black policymakers who are fighting on the front lines of government to push forward legislation and advocacy that could transform maternal healthcare for future generations.

The film also follows a devoted Black doula who tirelessly supports mothers seeking safe and empowering birth experiences, even as she struggles to keep her own work alive in a system that offers little support for the very people trying to save lives. Completing this powerful tapestry is the emotional journey of a Black mother whose premature child must remain in the NICU, forcing her to balance faith, fear, and the fragile hope that her child will come home.

Through these four deeply human stories, Her Dreams reveals the persistence, courage, and community rising in the face of a crisis that has gone unseen for far too long. Intimate, urgent, and deeply moving, the film sheds light on the fight for dignity, safety, and justice in Black maternal healthcare.

Written and directed by Corey Lankford, Her Dreams is a cinematic story of struggle, advocacy, and unbreakable hope, bringing audiences into a fight that is as personal as it is historic.

The experience of capturing Pittsburgh is beyond The portraits, but simply the people. Each of them deserve roses 🌹 because they are what make Pittsburgh so unique and special. This is Home and this comprehensive plan for Pittsburgh 2050 is working to answer the call to make home better than it’s ever been! I am honored to capture the representatives of each community to display them on an amazing level of who they are and the neighborhoods they represent.

The 2026 @waterlanternfestival in Pittsburgh was a beautifully, reflective event. So many people brought family, friends, and loved ones and wrote incredibly special messages on the lanterns. It even rained, but shielded closely with umbrellas, we wrote and drew on thin sleeves of paper. A message meant to remember.

A time to say that I am grateful to be alive, grateful for family, grateful for the journey… just being grateful is a priceless value.
