What does home look like when you’re thousands of miles away? For Miguel Muñoz, it can look like a Mexican soccer jersey, a favorite meal or hearing Spanish around him ⚽️🇲🇽

Born and raised in Zacatecas, Mexico, Muñoz is now a chemical and biomolecular engineering PhD candidate at CWRU, where he’s found ways to bring his culture into his life as a researcher, mentor and member of the university community.

Finding her people at CWRU also helped Abigail Figueroa reconnect with an important part of herself: her Peruvian heritage 💙 🇵🇪

A second-year biomedical and electrical engineering student, Figueroa found a strong connection to her culture through La Alianza and Case Salsa. She and a friend also created Qué Pasa Case, an Instagram page highlighting Hispanic voices, organizations and achievements at CWRU.

After earning his pilot’s license during a gap year, David Kaplan knew aerospace was the path for him ✈️

Now a third-year aerospace and mechanical engineering student at CWRU, Kaplan spent his summer interning at Rolls-Royce, working on jet engine assembly, 3D-printed engineering fixtures and data-processing automation. He’s already been invited back next summer to work with the company’s advanced and emerging technology team.

On campus, Kaplan puts his skills to work through CWRU Motorsports and research at the Cleveland Clinic, while staying involved with several student organizations. Read more about Kaplan’s journey at the link in bio 🔗 by @cwruengineering

If Rhyder Swen could turn his CWRU experience into a video game, he’d name it, “School Life 2: Expanded Academics DLC” 🎮

The fourth-year computer science student has packed his CWRU experience with academic exploration, from computer engineering and data science to Japanese and mathematics, while also serving as president of Big Games Club and staying involved with several other campus organizations.
