This Part Two album picks up where Part One left off at the close of 2001/start of 2002, and continues till the end of 2013. The photos in the collage cover this same time period range (start of 2002–end of 2013), when I used to rock a lot of hair lol

Even as these life stories are merely selected moments in my life journey, there were so many to dig through and many I remembered AFTER the fact when we stopped recording, that I had more on my plate to edit than I had imagined I would (like a couple hundred GIGABYTES of material to go through). The process also allowed me to see how things connect and how "random moments" from the past were instrumental for things in the present to come into fruition.

For those who don't know me and wonder why I'm doing all this, many have been asking me to write a book for years because of all the stories I would share of my life experiences and world travels. It's been a challenge trying to do that (the book part), so for now, this is the next best thing I could think of, to document my life and share stories from my journey, and I hope it informs, entertains, and mostly inspire others to consider their own lives and the things they wish to experience and discover more about themselves and find greater purpose in their own journeys.

@villainorigin.stories is a long-form interview series about artists, thinkers, and cultural figures confronting the catalyzing experiences that shaped them.

@cxy opens up about growing up in a deeply musical family, learning piano and cello, and ultimately choosing technology over becoming a professional musician. From studying at MIT and discovering late-1980s house and hip-hop through college radio to building products at companies including Apple, Microsoft, and RealNetworks, C.Y. reflects on the decisions that moved him away from performing-but never separated him from music.

That unfinished relationship eventually led him back as a collector, executive producer, co-founder of MusicNerd, and one of the most visible patrons of independent artists in Web3. He explores what direct artist support can look like, why patronage should be treated as a luxury product, and how people who built wealth outside the arts can help fund the creative culture that shaped them.

C.Y. Lee (@cxy) and Carl Tydingco (@clt ) are creative technologists working toward a world where fans can support independent artists more directly. They are working with 30 artists to will those ecosystems into existence, drawing on firsthand experience of the record-store, file-sharing, streaming, and NFT eras.

Their all-day “Sanctuary for Technological Creatives” is an open studio for artists working with software and hardware to share unfinished work, compare notes, and meet future collaborators. Artists including Sound of Fractures (Alone Together), Tom Vek (Sleevenote), Pete Rango (Music Nerd), Latashá (TOPIA), Songadaymann (We All Make a Platformer), Vivid Fever Dreams (Dream Sequence), Xcelencia (El Nino Maravilla), TK (Darkside), Black Dave, and Mary Maguire will show what they are making, and visitors are invited to bring work of their own. by @cxy

There’s a lot of new people here so I thought it would be appropriate to check in with all of my friends and tell you about the great adventure that has become my life for the past 8 months. Back in September, I set out to embark on a Coast to Coast journey through America photographing skateparks and cemeteries for a book I’m working on called, Skate Or Die. For three months, I covered about 12,000miles on film, stopping through all of the places that have defined my life up until now, with many other locales in between that I’ve never seen before. It was a remarkable experience that brought me closer to my past while also forcing me to start coming to terms with the subject of death…sometimes in ways that became a bit too close to heart.

With a quick break in NYC to regroup at the top of the year, I managed to conceptualize and plan a trip through Europe where I covered 7 countries over a month, continuing the narrative that I began last fall.

Ive now scanned every single photo captured and am currently writing what will be my first book, an endeavor that is both invigorating and frightening at the same time. I thought I knew exactly what I was doing, but as with all things the deeper “meaning” of why this matters has only recently been made obvious to me.

All this to say, I’m very fortunate to have people in my life that believe in me, my perspective, and the way I see the world at this stage in my life. There will be plenty more to say about this and many more people to thank, but for now I want to give a very special shoutout to @cxy @fridaysatthepark and @sidnexiv at @deathvalleycheersquad for fucking with the vision and allowing me to live my life with agency for the first time in 40years.

First & Foremost, If you copped any physical merch or were subscribed from/to my bandcamp (2020-present) - please please, send me your current/updated shipping address.

Ok, so a lot of people already know the up’s & unprecedented downs of what my life became post (2020 world event) you know the reason this USB began & why I was willing to give everyone full access to my entire released and unreleased discography at the time. You know about two hard drive losses since, that initially delayed it, and my hard pivot into new technology that was marketed as permanent compared the quickly decaying proof of culture as big tech breaks search engines, sunsets or fundamentally alters websites/platforms/apps we have shared work while connecting organically via shared interests.

2021-2023 that pivot while frowned upon by a larger portion of the population than not, that pivot began with improved systems in contrast to an algo driven internet, and because of that. My relentless documentation, and uncharacteristically over transparent backstories attached to music, actually saved my life. Not hyperbolic or metaphorically.. literally led to events that kept me breathing & sharing the same air as you all.

The purpose & scope of the usb evolved, but a usb is still limited in storage & my legacy weighs a ton, so the workaround was leveraging the permanence & organizational control of the technology, to link out to in the master vault manual/biography…. I moved across the country in 2024, got the biggest blessing of my life which you all expressed so much joy about then…. 2 events slowly unraveled in parallel that broke the final chapter of the usb. The technology wasn’t so permanent, so 5 years of data can’t be linked to anymore and that blessing in 2024, turned out to be the ultimate traumatic nightmare still ongoing so I can’t talk about it.

That being said, @cxy (executive producer) of this vault really wants this imperfect but still impressive version of what we hope it will become after I stop hoarding this version into your hands and out of my very heavy unresolved priority cobweb mind asap.
