‘Daughters of many lands’ 🧑‍🩰at @templenewsam on Saturday!

Inspired by the poem by Carol Ann Duffy
🗺️ The Map Woman

The poem shows us the perspective of this woman’s position in the world and her relationship with her own identity. I highly recommend giving it a good read as you might find yourself lingering on certain lines that sound like they were put there just for you. You might even wonder what does your own map look like, reminiscing on its landmarks.

This project came to life thanks to the brilliant minds of @emmaclayton9203 and @rara_wils and created together with the Dance Tribe hivemind, as each one of us added their own little signature to the choreography.

We had the wonderful opportunity of performing our whimsy Sunny Dance routine, followed by this thought-provoking piece while taking part in ‘Steps Through Time’ - a unique celebration of movement, spanning across a wide range of styles and hundreds of years of history!

First time trying Burlesque Barre with @auroranova_burlesque 🫶 The choreography was so sensual and dramatic.. and harder than it looks

I’m a big fan of the flexibility of latin heels (even if they are as wobbly as a jelly) so I’ll bring them for next class.

I’m so so exited to see all the photos, you can tell everyone’s genuinely so happy to see them! 🫶

Our friendship started in this very theatre 🥹 back in 2024 when Lord Victorrosa was about to go on stage, waiting at the backstage door. The all familiar nerves were kicking in when just as I was passing by and they’re about to go on. I said what I’d say to myself cause I’m always anxious - It’s just the brain that’s freaking out, your body knows what to do. It’s like muscle memory, the moment you step on stage.

Little did I know that same pep talk will be given to me at the same door in 2025. I’m just about to go on and the stage kitten next to me says “Your body knows what to do” 🥹 “It’s just the mind, that’s freaking out.”

I could barely recognise them without the Victorian dress, the wig and makeup but when I heard that sentence I instantly knew!! We’ve gone full circle 💫

Now in 2026 we got to showcase our new acts together!!

Not long until we’re on ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 This year’s choreography is definitely the hardest and the best one we’ve had! So proud of everyone for absolutely smashing it on stage!!

Sunday workshop with the incredible @auroranova_burlesque ♥️

Now, in all honesty I forgot my robe... 😅 I’m used to overpacking and always having spare tights, clothes, kneepads etc so realising I have nothing a minute before the start I was mortified!!

What Aurora told us during class helped me calm down and make the most of it. Whether we had a long robe, short robe or something else entirely we look at the features of our garment, emphasise those and Make It Burlesque. We are the ones who do that, not the garments.

And then I remembered the trend that’s going round instagram - do something ordinary but make it *Burlesque*
It’s funny but I feel like this is one of the core principles of Neo Burlesque and I love it for that ♥️

Reflecting on what dance and performing have taught me 💃✨ on this World Theatre Day, I remind myself the stage doesn’t need perfection, it needs presence! To be fully in the moment, to take up space as your body carries your message to the audience. If you’re not sure and confident in that message it might just get lost in translation.

As you can see in this shot of me coming in full force, urging yall to go find the ✨AUDACITY✨ Feel it, be it, totally worth it!
