Part of LOG 3: Interceptor
9-11 to 21- 12 2024

The events in LOG 1 through 3 are based on the experiences of an unknown agent, following the traces of a lost entity through spacetime, profiling its trajectory in the process. It has reconstructed this moment within its limited ability, piecing together fragments to form a whole.

The third entry is situated within the utility room of the D02.2 spacecraft, right behind the Maintenance Shoulder and the Transport Curve. Besides general spacecraft noise, you can faintly hear the Large-Scale Humidifier humidifying. Housed in a site-specific AI-assisted mise en scène, the exhibition aims to open questions on data harvesting, digital profiling, contemporary mass categorisation, and the resulting data chimera.

Opening times: Friday & Saturday, 12-6pm (and by appointment)

A huge thank you to the legends of curation and production @ameliemckee and @mellenieling for putting so much work and effort into this brilliant show. Feel very honoured to be part of it alongside brilalint works by Beatrice Vorster, Szilvia Bolla and Sabrina Ratté.

There is no Single “objective reality”. Metaphysics is the realm where we end up if we decide to take reality-creation into our own hands. The work of metaphysics is pre-political, it’s the groundwork that allows for a certain field of the “political” to emerge. Unlike political activity, metaphysics does not always require a social dimension. It is birthed in a one to one situation as well, a meeting akin to that of a spectator engaging with an object, a sound, a smell, an atmosphere. Emerging from fugues, thoughts and vapors, it fills up the seemingly “empty” space with strands of meaning, inherent to each society we stem from. Nowadays, we live without a future and that’s by its nature queer. The fact that the human mind can only think about the end of the world is creating apprehensive environments, unseen threats, and deeply embedded paranoia in our movement around society. The Only option is to flee, that is why humanity is fixated with prophetic practices, apocalyptic fetishes and mass suicides, due to escaping tendencies. Escape or stay only to mutate. 💬 About the work:
Bow and Marrow is a sculptural organ suspended in tension: a visceral knot of copper skin held within a steel arc, echoing both anatomical resilience and infrastructural fragility. Inspired by the interstitium—an overlooked system of fluid-filled cavities newly recognized as vital—the work imagines a speculative biology shaped by emotional and societal saturation. Here, organs evolve not through mutation but as responses to psychic overload: stress, depression, collapse. These speculative forms filter not blood, but affect. Bow and Marrow murmurs with the resonance of something ancient yet emergent—a conduit for the unseen forces that course through contemporary life.

💬 About the artist: Evangelia Dimitrakopoulou (b. 1992, Athens) is a sculptor and multimedia artist based in London. She holds an MFA from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her practice explores Otherness and care through installation-based sculptures using scent and edible components. She was the recipient of the ACME Early Career Award (2020-21) and the MOTOROIL Scholarship. Her work has been exhibited across the UK and Europe, including at the Whitechapel Gallery and Saatchi Gallery. She is part of the collectives Display Fever and Blue Whip.

Very happy to be part of 'Apotropaia', a group show curated by @andreas_mallouris
and @nealrock76 at @far_cynefin in Athens ✨️
Opening on the 28th of June

In The Queer Art of Failure, Jack Halberstam explores failure as an epistemic, counterhegemonic force whose capacity and form give visibility and meaning to histories, bodies, and ways of living that have long been rendered invisible. Ostensibly negative qualities such as emptiness, limitation, ineffectiveness, sterility and unproductiveness, when twinned with flourishing, joy and boundlessness, give definition to creative practices with roots in queer and decolonial countercultural histories. In Athens today, herms no longer mark an urban landscape whose architectural makeup and communities bear the ravages of longstanding socio-economic deprivation. The apotropaic qualities of herms - ancient Athenian city markers - today can be found in the many ways that creative communities reform individual and collective imaginaries. Artist-run gallery spaces are abundant in a city that provides little monetary incentive for artists to equate success with financial remuneration. One form of turning away or refusal – the failure to operate as other cities have articulated capital (London, New York) - provides an opportunity for different forms of flourishing. Whilst the artists in this exhibition are neither a cohesive whole, nor grouped together thematically (another ‘failure’), many have forged the permission to say yes to material and intellectual ways of being that originated in othering, invisibility, the hyper-visual or exoticised. What we encounter are various reformations of the human, not as a coherent form or subject, but rather as mutable, ruptured, potential, imagined or contaminated – the culmination of many moments of joy, failures and refusals along the way.

SIBYL
Steel, light reflective paint, soil
2025

SIBYL is a speculative anatomical theatre, materializing the hypothesis that our bodies – overwhelmed by the pressures of contemporary society – may be evolving new, psychosocial organs. Drawing from the 2018 discovery of the interstitium—a hidden system of fluid-filled cavities acting as both conduit and communicator—the central sculptural form represents a newly summoned organ, responding to the emotional and existential overloads of now.

The light reflective paint on the core sculpture allows the work to change under varying light conditions, a hidden quality. Like a subterranean biological structure, the sculpture is not always fully visible; it flickers into perception depending on its environment, echoing the idea that these organs or formations only become apparent under specific conditions—emotional intensity, trauma, or moments of psychic overwhelm.

The form itself—poised between botanical, visceral, and alien—is a filter. The flanking fluorescent lights serve both as surgical illumination and diagnostic beams, suggesting a diagnostic environment. Light doesn’t just reveal, but alters.

These new organs—born not of DNA mutation but of psycho-emotional adaptation—can be imagined as responses to societal trauma: filtering despair, metabolizing fear, absorbing invisible cultural pollutants. Their presence isn't purely physical: they may express themselves through soundscapes or olfactory cues, much like the installation invites contemplation through its ambient aura and charged voids.

This isn't a celebration of dystopia but a sensory inquiry into survival: What if our evolution isn't linear, but recursive? What if, rather than shedding outdated parts, we’re growing vessels for the things we can no longer cognitively or emotionally contain?
