Eldest had a great time yesterday with @carchaseheroes, getting to take the wheel (under the watchful eyes of two amazing instructors, with endless patience!) of a Ferrari California T with 550bhp, and a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera with around 560bhp! As if that wasn’t enough he was then taken for a hot lap with racing driver @jmooreracing, which he described as having ‘frightened the life out of him, but in an awesome way’. Safe to say he came away with a huge smile on his face, and some new core memories!

Disclaimer: I’m not being paid for this review, nor have I been asked to do it. I just wanted to share our experience, as we were so happy with it!

A couple of weeks ago we were over at @rallyrides in Honeybourne, for a kids rally driving experience.

We bought it for the eldest for Christmas, as it was the only company we could find that offered driving experiences from age 8 upwards, as everywhere else was age 10. The deal was six laps in a Subaru Impreza rally car, with your child in full control of the car, alongside an instructor who is able to take over or assist with control if required at any point.

As soon as we arrived, we were made to feel welcome, and the eldest was soon excitedly talking everyones ears off about cars and motorsport. Whilst he was doing that, and eyeing up the fully liveried Impreza, we quietly paid for an upgrade to have two cameras in the car, one facing forwards and one facing the driver, aswell as a high speed passenger ride in a rally car, with a professional rally driver at the wheel.

When it came to our turn, the staff were on hand to get the boy sat in the car, and to get him in a comfortable position to be able to reach the steering wheel and pedals. Whilst he was being strapped in, I went to have a chat with the instructor, Iain, (rallycoach) in the passenger seat. I wanted to let him know about the eldest’s dyspraxia, as I was a little worried that it might affect his ability to drive the car. Iain was super relaxed about it and reassured us that he would keep it in mind. On top of that, the chap that was strapping him in overheard and said that he had dyspraxia too - this reassured the eldest a lot, as he’d not met anyone else with it before this!

Spent a fantastic evening with @plaitsandpintssolihull over in @ale_rooms_knowle, learning how to do more than just a ponytail for my daughter’s hair. Sophia was brilliant at explaining to a room full of bewildered blokes how to do things like French plaits and buns! To top it off, we got a free pint, and a very manly bag of hair care accessories to take home. Can’t wait to get along to the next one for some more advice!

Thanks to all @bosinver for another fabulous stay this week! It’s definately our Happy Place. Here’s a little look at their Big Five activities…

1. Animal Feeding with Farmer Dave
2. Pony Rides
3. Swimming
4. Wild Kids Club
5. Lots of adventure Play!

After such a great week, there were definately some tears shed this morning when we had to leave. And the kids were pretty upset too.

Took a trip out to Tehidy Woods today to see @rogueotherworld’s Winter Wood. Always one of the highlights of a trip to Cornwall! They didnt disappoint either, with immersive story telling as we meandered through the woods, followed by a wonderful performance in the cosy marquee, narrated by the fabulous Old Man Winter. We sat at the front on the comfy pillows, and all the kids got free hot chocolate from a fire fairy! A fabulous morning out, and highly recommended to anyone!

So today my 7yr old asked me if I’d like him to do a drawing for me. I said “Sure! Can you draw Deadpool for me?” And then he produces this little masterpiece! This is going straight on the wall! I’m going to get him to do Wolverine next…

Yesterday I took the eldest to @silverstonecircuit to meet Bobby Trundley, Paul Fullick and Charles Graham from Team Brit Racing. What followed was a whirlwind day of adventure for him! From meeting his heroes, to getting up close with the cars, topped off by being invited into the BRDC Clubhouse to recieve his very own Team Brit cap! He had an AMAZING day, and was so excited to see that his Autism and Dyspraxia do not need to hold him back from achieving his dreams. I don’t think he’s going to stop talking about it anytime soon! Thank you so much to everyone in the team who made us feel welcome, especially Bobby, Paul, Charles, John, Lucy, and Mike.

Now I just need to get him over to @daytonamsport for some karting!

Took an impromptu trip over to @ntcalkeabbey today to get the kids out in the fresh air and the sunshine, and as usual it didn’t disappoint! They had a great time playing in the Calke Explore woodland play area, followed by a wander around the gardens admiring the flowers and trying to peek behind mysterious doors! And of course the firm favourite of the tunnels, which were especially welcome for cooling off!

Thinking back to when this happened in 2018. The boy was 5 in this picture, he’s now 11, and he still talks about this moment all the time. That look on his face is a core memory being made! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, thank you @mickschumacher for being so patient and friendly, and for giving him a moment he will never ever forget.
