ICE shot a man in my father’s childhood home, Marble Hill in the Bronx.

This administration is out of control (and half of y’all enabled it). It’s going to be up to the rest of us to do something about it.

“Stop Deportation Now” is the lead story of our Griots of Visual Memory gallery in Brooklyn. Russell Frederick took this image in 2007. In 2024 I stared at in awe and anger. We began our work as the Darkroom Diaspora that year (as artists in residence at The Laundromat Project), and so much more has transpired since then.

If this story resonates, please go to darkroomdiaspora.art and watch Chapters 2 and 3, where we chronicle how the unjust criminal “justice” system is destroying lives and our communities.

Visit darkroomdiaspora.art to continue the story.

When we started this organization as an extension of our brotherhood, we didn’t expect to be honored for it. We just answered a call from the women in our community to step up for the sake of men who need support healing. Years later after workshops, potlucks, retreats and real building, we are humbled to be acknowledged by the B.R.O. Experience as one of their Extraordinary Men 2026 Honorees. Deep gratitude for all who have supported our journey thus far and to the B.R.O. Experience for seeing us. Thank you. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @dahkillah

Sixteen years ago my brother @daoudsun and I wrote a feature film. I’m proud and grateful to see Delroy Lindo bring this story to life.

Jabari’s People’s is a love letter to the people and culture of Jamaica. Thank you to Mr. Lindo, @robmaylor and especially all the people who supported Daoud and I on this journey. People like Ramulas Burgess, @zebiwilliams Kim Jackson @goodviolet , Bobby Williams of the @princevalleyja and the people of Settlement. Special shout out to everyone who contributed to the Kickstarter for “…The Harder They Fall” (previous title). Couldn’t have gotten here without your support through the years. by @dahkillah

Peace.

Our Griots of Visual Memory project and the Seeds of Somers Garden have been invited to be part of Impacct Brooklyn’s upcoming documentary.

Focus: affordable housing, communal public spaces, and the work of combating gentrification.

A true honor and privilege to be directed by my good friend, the amazing Sing Lathan.

We are eternally grateful. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @dahkillah

We are one week away. Are you ready to let your body remember?

Remember when the block belonged to all of us?

When we danced for real, hugged for real, looked out for the babies and the elders, and made joy the whole point of the day?

Once Upon A Time: A Block Party is coming back to Brooklyn, and this year we are going bigger, earlier, and deeper into the healing.
Saturday, September 19, 2026. 1pm to 8pm. Bed-Stuy, on Lexington Ave between Grand and Classon.

Real community connection, the old-school NYC way. DJs spinning the classics that keep the block moving all day.

Games, dancing, massages, good food, and space for every generation to remember, heal, and play.

All ages. All expressions. This is a healing space where play is the modality.

This is more than a party. It is a call to order for the community, carrying the torch from Dance Africa and the African Arts Festival into the future.

RSVP now on Partiful (link in bio) and bring the people you love. Come add your magic. See you on the block. by @dahkillah
