The one song in Jay-Z In ♾️ that wrought the most pride is a cut to which many Jigga fans are ignorant. Most know “U Don’t Know,” but many aren’t familiar with “Don’t You Know.” a battle rap barred up smoker complete with @djclue adlibs. It was a Blueprint 2 leak that found a home on the Paid In Full soundtrack. I was floored that it made it into the series. I remember playing it for Rick in one of his yoga rooms and telling him that it was the song I’d play for folks who swore they were the biggest Hov fan. Some had their memory jogged, while others struggled to admit they couldn’t recall the deep cut. It doesn’t even exist in Instagram’s library.

The only downer for me was that Rick missed the most significant part of my “Don’t You Know” lesson: the craziest line on the entire song is “I carry two Taurus, ni**as they call me Gemini/Though my birthday is one day before December 5.” Are you fkn serious?! With Jay clearly having to reread his poetry, it appears the author missed his highlight as well. I guess all those forgetful Jay fans get a pass.

What’s your favorite song in this series?

When we started this organization as an extension of our brotherhood, we didn’t expect to be honored for it. We just answered a call from the women in our community to step up for the sake of men who need support healing. Years later after workshops, potlucks, retreats and real building, we are humbled to be acknowledged by the B.R.O. Experience as one of their Extraordinary Men 2026 Honorees. Deep gratitude for all who have supported our journey thus far and to the B.R.O. Experience for seeing us. Thank you.

We are one week away. Are you ready to let your body remember?

Remember when the block belonged to all of us?

When we danced for real, hugged for real, looked out for the babies and the elders, and made joy the whole point of the day?

Once Upon A Time: A Block Party is coming back to Brooklyn, and this year we are going bigger, earlier, and deeper into the healing.
Saturday, September 19, 2026. 1pm to 8pm. Bed-Stuy, on Lexington Ave between Grand and Classon.

Real community connection, the old-school NYC way. DJs spinning the classics that keep the block moving all day.

Games, dancing, massages, good food, and space for every generation to remember, heal, and play.

All ages. All expressions. This is a healing space where play is the modality.

This is more than a party. It is a call to order for the community, carrying the torch from Dance Africa and the African Arts Festival into the future.

RSVP now on Partiful (link in bio) and bring the people you love. Come add your magic. See you on the block.
