BOOM
1st draft of my memoir Lost & Found.

If any one is wondering what I’ve been up to for the past 3 and half years it’s this.
A first draft is the first of many stages but committing this story - my story - to the page feels monumental. Handing it over feels like handing over a child.

Writing a book isn’t just the act of sitting down at a desk .This book lived with me and followed me around my life gathering its own momentum - It became an entity in itself. It infiltrated my dreams, was downloaded on dog walks, train journeys and the cramped seats of EasyJet flights.

Actually I’ve probably been writing it my whole life.

Some days my brain felt like a travelling circus of characters clamouring to be heard . Other times the voices were harder to hear and the writing felt like heavy lifting.

I loved every minute. Even when it felt impossible.

This is my beautiful friend @estelle.bingham
If you don’t know about her you should. A few days ago @stjameslondon Estelle led us through a powerful meditation focusing on the Divine Feminine followed by a beautiful mantra by @mollyrose.dh

The divine feminine has many different faces and one of them is Kali. I was lucky enough to encounter Kali on my dear friend @khadinemorcomyoga goddess course. Kali is the bad ass of the mahavidyas and takes no BS. She is fiery ,fast and has no time for procrastination or stagnation. She is the fierce, loving mother who’s had enough or your bad behaviour. Exactly the sort of energy our poor planet needs right now .Bring it on.

August is drawing to a close and it’s bittersweet.This has been a summer full of joyous reunions with old friends and magical trips to ibiza, Seville and Chenac. There was Nick Cave in the park and Molly at the Alphabet. There were walks through forest glades with my mum and London at its best. There was food made with love and French wine and all my mother’s best cakes.

Oof, this one hits hard.

I have been unwaveringly in love with Tim Curry ever since I was a child.

He first blew my eleven year old mind when I was taken to an art house cinema in Munich by my parents friends Klaus and Sybille who probably didn’t have babysitter that night. I tagged along with them on a dank, rainy evening in a feather boa and lashings of glitter and sat in the dark where I was swallowed into another realm.
When Frank n Furter emerged from the creaky lift to sing Sweet Transvestite in his underwear and platforms I felt assaulted by feelings I could hardly name - lust, love, longing...
Everything about the Rocky Horror Picture show spoke to me; the kitschy tale of the safely dull Brad and Janet stumbling upon a world of glorious misfits rang a bell. The films characters felt like family to me with Frank at the helm as a sexy demi god who made up the rules as he went along.

The film never ended for me that night. I took it with me. Its sound track was played constantly on my tinny walkman and became the back drop of my life as an adolescent. Whenever Frank sang ‘Don’t dream it just be it ‘ I felt a lump in my throat .When the tape ended I was always bereft.
My obsession forced me to assemble a motley crew of friends ,Fish, @charlottetilbury, @ibizagrl, who I convinced to perform the show at adult birthday parties in Ibiza. All very normal.

I always played Frank n Furter.

She’s the best. What a great weekend we had at Maytham hall home of the writer Frances Hodgson Burnett the author of The secret garden. Great to see my dear and talented friend Mr Michael B White and lovely dinner with @d.mankowitz_eclectic at the Ewe and Lamb.
