✨what if you allowed yourself to let go of any assumptions you have about how your yoga practice is supposed to be - and just let yourself flow freely?

I hear the above statements a lot when talking to people about their experiences with yoga. I’m also guilty of thinking some of these when I began my journey. It’s easy to get caught up in discouragement, comparison, and self-doubt.. but yoga truly is for everyone, and it can be whatever you want it to look like!

You can combat these self-limiting beliefs - it isn’t about how deep you can get into a pose, how flexible you are, if you know all the poses… you can modify asana poses and still get the same benefits - you can meditate - you can practice breath work - you can be of service to others - it’s still yoga ✨

Be confident in yourself and allow your personal practice to be free of self-doubt and limitations - you are so worthy of practicing in a way that fills your cup 💛

Today was the first day of school and the start of year 7 as a school counselor ✨

since I’m back in full swing at school, I thought I’d share a peak into my morning routine and yoga practice from this morning that helped set the best tone for my day 🌼

my go-to practice: movement, breath work, daily devotional & prayer time✨

my AM yoga practice really helps me to show up as my best self, which helps me be the best that I can be for my students 🫶🏼

even if you only have a few minutes to add into your morning - 10/10 recommend taking time to not rush into the day, but stop to breathe and ground 🧘‍♀️

Long time, no talk… it has been a slowwww, sleepy girl summer for me over here! 🦥

I had allllll the plans to start a new project this summer and launch 1 (maybe 2?) new yoga offers - then obstructed my herniated disc (again 🫠) in May on top of feeling the end of school year exhaustion/burn out (educators, IYKYK) - and felt the nudge to just slow down and press pause for a moment. Our bodies really do give us cues when we’ve pushed too hard and need to invite more ease in.. so that’s what i’ve been up to all summer 🤷‍♀️✌🏼

SO, in honor of summer break coming to an end, here’s what I’ve been doing to reset and recharge over the summer so that I can come back into this new school year feeling regulated and ready to go ✨💃

🌊 lots lots LOTS of ocean floats.. there’s just something so healing about water ya’ll

💤 SLEEPING.. sooo many naps and sleeping in

🏃‍♀️MOVEMENT - this truly has been key for the progress in my back and my mental health overall

🫁 breath work daily, always

💆‍♀️ body work - massage & newest additions have been acupuncture and chiropractic work

📚 reading: Burnout by Emily & Amelia Nagoski was recommended by my therapist and it’s amazing

👯‍♀️ community and connection with friends and loved ones

🏝️ outdoors - grounding in the sand specifically is my fave

these are what have personally worked for me so far - lmk if you’ve got any go-to tips & tricks for nervous system regulation ⬇️💛

2024 has truly been a year of healing and taking space. After suffering from months of low back pain, I found out I had a disc extrusion and I was forced to slow down and step back from my practice in ways I never expected. Not only have I been extremely limited in my asana practice, but also restricted in the other ways I love moving my body, like weight lifting and running. If I’m being honest, not being able to fully participate in my physical yoga practice has left me feeling uninspired, disconnected, and unmotivated as both a student and teacher. The discouragement I have felt during this healing process has been overwhelming at times and it has been a challenge mentally and emotionally… but this season, though uncomfortable, has also been a gift. I’ve found a new appreciation for my body and how lucky I am to still be able to move like I can despite the limitations. It's taught me the importance of listening to my body, honoring where I am, and finding new ways to heal—in all the ways, inside and out 🍃

Healing is a journey, and sometimes it means taking a step back to move forward. This year has been about slowing down, reflecting, reevaluating my goals for this season of life, and healing from the inside out. Even though I’m still stepping out of this rut and still in the recovery phase, I’m grateful for the lessons in patience, resilience, and self-compassion. I’m feeling hope and fresh energy coming in the new year and I’m here. for. itttt. 👏

Here’s to a year of slow growth, deep healing, and finding new ways to flow. 💫

HERE’S THE TEA ⤵️

1. Yoga is so much more than what you practice on the mat.

Yoga really starts when you roll up your mat and move into your day. The words you speak to yourself, spreading your light throughout the world, showing up present for your loved ones. We love supporting you on the mat, but know that’s just the start to deepening your practice.

2. Props are tools, not training wheels.

Using a block or a strap can aid your body into getting deeper into a posture and even help you with safety. Let go of the ego that you don’t need them.

3. Let go of comparison.

We all come from different walks of life and your practice may look very different from those around you. We don’t care what you wear or how straight your leg is, just being there is enough.

4. We’re only human.

As yoga teachers, we are not immune to bad days, mixing up lefts and rights, and have our own lists of challenging poses. We are by no means perfect, just simply people with a knowledge and passion for teaching, serving, and of course yoga.

5. Come connect with us!!

Don’t be afraid to ask about a pose you’re working on or a song you liked. The more we know about you, the more we can support you on your journey!

YES - you can use your breath to create spaciousness physically, mentally, emotionally, energetically 🫁❤️‍🩹😮‍💨

When you’re constantly on the go, pouring yourself into others more than pouring into yourself, and not taking the time to slow down… you’ll start to burn out quickly and your cup will soon become dry. You’ve probably heard the saying, and it’s so true, but.. you can’t pour from an empty cup.

When I started to feel the impacts of running on empty, one of the things I craved was SPACE - not just physical space, but the ability to slow down and have mental space as well. Part of me finding that space was allowing time and slowness to focus on my breath - to exhale and release what no longer was serving me or suppressed to make room for more of what would serve me to the fullest.

In our physical yoga practice, teachers guide us through inhales and exhales not only to open up space within the body - but to also allow the breath to create this space in the body and mind. This in turn helps to shift to the parasympathetic nervous system, bringing the body and mind back to a calm state 🍃✨

If you’re looking to add breath work into your daily routine, start small - just 3 minutes a day can make a huge difference in creating space for yourself. If you need help getting started - send me a DM!

Happy breathing friends 🫁🫶🏼✨

I’m finally in my healing era ✨🍃

Life was life-ing and got a little chaotic, and here I am now making my first post in 6 months.

It has taken me a while to slowly get back on here and show up if I’m being honest. I quickly got swept up in overwhelming myself with way more doing than being - teaching 3-4 classes per week on top of working full time/not having a full day off during the week, trying to balance my social life, being a wife, & just finding some time to be with myself & stay consistent with my own practice - I lost the balance entirely. I was pouring so much into others and not nearly as much into myself, and I eventually found myself pouring from an empty cup and burning out. It started to impact me mentally, emotionally, energetically, all the things.

Fast forward to now - reflecting on the past school year and recovering as I crawl out of survival mode, prepping for a new job role, moving my body, being consistent with my yoga practice, resetting my nervous system, and having more SPACE and time to heal.

I’m still on a journey, but I think I’m finally refilling the cup & coming back home to myself 💛

Feeling so much gratitude that this much needed reset is finally here ✨

It has been a wild couple of months - working 7 days a week has been both an energetically & emotionally draining experience. It has really made me appreciate the moments of stillness & ease when I have them 🫶🏼 As I move into the holiday break, I’m looking forward to sloww mornings/days, lots of s p a c e, pouring into my practice, less doing & more being.

Take your rest cycles when you need them - honor your body & mind where it’s at. Relish & be present with the sweet moments that fill your cup ✨

Anyone else feeling incredibly overwhelmed lately? 🙋‍♀️

Just here to remind you that your breath is a powerful tool. We do it over and over again daily, though we never stop and think about deepening our breath and bringing more awareness to it.

Use your breath to reset the nervous system, release stagnant energy, and create space for calm and ease.

& hang in there 💛
