Reminders & Reflections❤️
The heart has been created for the soul purpose of loving God, the Exalted. (Ibn Taymiyyah)

‘The way you live is the way you die’

"When my teacher shared with me the phrase 'The way you live is the way you die,' it really stuck with me.” After nine years, I find myself reflecting on his words again and thinking about how my grandparents passed away. While I could talk endlessly about both of my grandparents, it was their deaths that made me truly reflect on myself. I hope that this post will inspire the same kind of reflection in those who read it.

When I was 18, my Nani passed away. She had a specific routine, and it was this same routine that she followed on the day she passed away. She woke up, prayed her Fajr, bathed my Nana, and made his breakfast. She then gave him money to donate to their local mosque, and he left. Next, she went to the kitchen to make my youngest aunt her morning tea while calling my mum, her eldest daughter, for their morning chat. As she gave my aunt her tea and went to the living room, she was still speaking to my mum. Suddenly, she had a major heart attack, fell down in sujood, and passed away in the exact spot where she usually prayed.

As the saying goes, "The way you live is the way you die." My Nani was a dutiful wife and mother who cared for her husband and children. Although she didn't attend the mosque regularly, she never failed to donate and had a good relationship with the local Imam and teachers of the mosque, who all saw her as their mother.

My Nana passed away when I was 20 years old. He was a person who always took care of himself, from the way he dressed to what he ate. He was particularly concerned with cleanliness. He passed away just before Fajr while performing ghusl.

My Nani's regular routine and Nana's traits reminded me that our common habits may lead to the state of our death. Is there a particular sin or good deed that we do? Our actions will be reflected in the state of our death. Take time to reflect on your day-to-day routine and observe your actions. You may be surprised at what you learn about yourself. by @dailyreminderss____

10 Years of Reflection: A Journey of Growth and Faith

Today marks 10 years since I started my self-reflective journey through writing and sharing reminders. What have I learned over this decade?

Hardship is part of a believer’s life – trials come and go, sometimes ones we never imagined facing. But with every challenge, I learned that nothing lasts forever, not even our struggles. Like a traveller, I’ve seen the beauty of loving friends and family, but also experienced loss and difficult moments. Through it all, one truth remains constant: Allah.

No matter where life takes us or how alone we feel, Allah is always there. He tests us, sometimes through repeated trials, to see if we’ve learned, grown, and truly trust Him. Faith, gratitude, and remembrance of God have carried me through this beautiful journey so far.

I’ve also learned the importance of reflection, whether through journaling, creating content, or conversations, it’s what makes us self-aware, resilient, and grounded. Reflecting over the years has shown me that with Allah by your side, you can overcome anything.

Thank you to all my followers, my friends, and my family for reading, supporting, and being an inspiration in this journey. I wouldn’t have started this page without you all.

Here’s to more growth, more lessons, and trusting the One who remains constant in every chapter of life.

What has reflection taught you? Share your thoughts below. by @dailyreminderss____

I think one reminder we all need is the reminder of hope, the concept of 'it gets better'. We are often faced with challenging situations, such as deadlines, trying not to free mix, and financial challenges and such.

Notice in this ayat, Allah is giving us reassurance in any hardship, worries, sorrows and trials we may be facing.

Allāh is telling us that whatever the event in our lives, we are strong enough to over come it. That every event has been decreed by his will. Thus all good and bad comes from Allah. One must remember that if Allah wills good for his servant, Allah increases his trials, to help his servant come closer to him, for his servant to truly submit to him. That each calamity a believer has, sins are wiped away.

This is a great lesson in tarbiya for us: talk to Allāh, tell him how your heart feels and what it wants even though He is Most Knowledgeable.

We also learn something else in this ayat, that one persons hardship might seem 'minor' to another. So it is important to understand this ayat not just with respect to your own self, but also with respect to others. An overdose of compassion and love is necessary, to comfort – if not to understand.
----------------------------------------------------
Practical advice when dealing with hardship:

1) Read more Quran - learn to fall in love with the words of Allah, for The Quran is the greatest of healers.

2) Continue to pray - often when we are faced with hardship, the passion to pray disappears as our hardship overcome us. Remember that salah was a gift sent to the prophet SAW to help him deal with his hardship.

3) Surround yourself in good company - whether it be your friends or family, surround yourself with people who will build up your confidence, those who will remind you of Allāh, those who will help support you and not pass unnecessary judgments. I know when facing hardship, we tend to hold everything in, but its okay to let people in.

And finally, one of our ustaadh said "when you are going through something hard and you start wondering where Allah is, remember that a teacher is always quiet during the exam." by @dailyreminderss____

And perhaps my biggest lesson has been this:

Allah has never abandoned me.

Not in the confusion.
Not in the heartbreak.
Not in the waiting.
Not in the mistakes.
Not in the moments where I could not understand what He was doing.

Looking back now, I can see His mercy woven through so many moments I once questioned.

So I enter my thirties with fewer expectations of how life should look and a much deeper trust in the One who already knows how it will unfold.

I don’t have everything figured out.

But I know myself better.
I value my people more.
I protect my peace more carefully.
I love more intentionally.
I make dua more deeply.
And I trust Allah more than the girl who entered her twenties ever knew how to.

Alhamdulillah for every answered dua.

Alhamdulillah for every unanswered one.

Alhamdulillah for every person, every lesson, every heartbreak, every delay, every redirection and every beautiful moment that brought me here.

My twenties, you changed me.

My thirties… Bismillah. ❤️

May this next decade bring me closer to Allah, softer in heart, stronger in character, richer in meaningful relationships and content with whatever He has written for me.

And may I never become so focused on where I am going that I forget to thank Allah for how far He has already brought me.

Chapter 30. Alhamdulillah, always. ✨ by @dailyreminderss____

My twenties taught me the beauty of tawakkul, not the kind where you simply say “I trust Allah”, but the kind where everything feels uncertain and you choose to trust Him anyway.

To make the dua even when you cannot see how it could possibly happen.

To keep going when the answer has not arrived yet.

To believe that what Allah has written for you will never miss you.

I learnt that comparison steals gratitude. Everyone has a different timeline. Someone else’s marriage, career, home, success or happiness does not mean you are behind.

There is no such thing as being behind when Allah is the One writing your story.

I learnt to appreciate the ordinary days more.

Sitting with family.

Laughing until my stomach hurts with friends.

A quiet walk.

A conversation that makes your heart feel lighter.

Being healthy enough to wake up and live another day.

So many of the things we rush past are actually the things we will one day miss the most.

I learnt that healing is not always dramatic. Sometimes healing is simply reacting differently to something that once destroyed you. Sometimes it is choosing peace over proving your point. Sometimes it is realising that the version of you who survived something deserves compassion, not embarrassment. by @dailyreminderss____

A Decade of Becoming. Chapter 30

Today I turned 30.

And somehow, closing the chapter on my twenties feels less like saying goodbye to an age and more like saying goodbye to so many versions of myself.

My twenties taught me that life rarely unfolds the way you imagine it will.

There were things I prayed desperately for that Allah delayed. Things I thought I had lost that He was actually protecting me from. Doors I begged to open that remained firmly closed, only for me to understand years later why they were never meant for me.

I learnt that Allah’s timing will always make more sense than mine.

I learnt that not everyone you love is meant to walk with you forever. Some people are chapters, some are lessons, some are blessings, and a very small few become home. And sometimes losing people is not always a loss, it can be Allah making room for who and what is truly meant for you.

I learnt that growing up means becoming comfortable with disappointing people sometimes. You cannot spend your whole life trying to be understood, liked or approved of by everyone. There is so much freedom in knowing who you are, what you value and what you will no longer compromise.

I learnt that being soft does not mean being weak.

That forgiveness does not always require reconnection.

That boundaries can be an act of love.

That protecting your peace sometimes means walking away without having the final word.

I learnt that some of the hardest battles are the ones nobody sees. There were seasons where I looked completely fine on the outside while privately asking Allah to carry a heart that felt exhausted.

And He did.

Every single time. by @dailyreminderss____

When Ramadan Feels Heavy on the Heart

Ramadan is meant to be a month of renewal, peace, and connection with Allah. But sometimes, it feels like a test of endurance. This year, my Ramadan has been unlike any other. I lost my uncle just before the month began. I was far from my family when I received the news. As I tried to process my grief, my baby cousin was hospitalised for five days, and the stress left me unwell too.

It’s easy to feel like I haven’t done enough, like I should have pushed myself harder in my ibadah. But I remind myself—and anyone who is struggling—that Allah sees the weight we carry. Even when our worship is not as strong as we wish, every small effort counts. Every whispered dua, every tear shed in private, every ounce of patience is recorded with Allah.

If you’re struggling this Ramadan, know that your pain does not make you distant from Allah; it brings you closer—because He is the One who heals, who gives strength, and who rewards even our silent battles.

This Ramadan, if all you can do is hold onto Allah in your heart, know that that is enough. May He grant us peace, strength, and a heart that finds ease in His remembrance. Ameen. ❤️🦋✨ by @dailyreminderss____

You Live for Yourself and Allah First 🌿

Take time to reflect and recalibrate. The journey toward Allah is ongoing, but every step you take brings you closer to the peace and contentment your soul craves.

Live for Allah. Live for yourself. In that balance, you will find your ultimate success. 🌸 by @dailyreminderss____

Finding my person has not been easy. Every rejection is a redirection. My journey to find my soulmate has led me to deeply appreciate my Creator. I’ve learned the meaning of Tawakkul (trust), Sabr (patience), Shukr (gratitude), and Taqwa (God-consciousness). Allah tests our faith through trials. These challenges help us realise how much trust and patience we have in our Creator.

I received three insightful thoughts from my cousin, colleague, and mother:

1. Cousin: God knows the person we need to be with and is preparing us for that individual. You’re not the same person you were between 22 and 28. Your list of what you wanted when you were young differs from what you want now. Why? Because you’ve changed as an individual. Our marriage has been decided by Allah. We shouldn’t focus so much on this but on improving ourselves. When God thinks we’re ready for the person He has chosen for us, we’ll be growing.

2. Colleague: We often focus on how a person makes us feel, but we should really focus on how they treat us. When we fixate on our feelings, we might miss how their treatment may not be what we need. Is the feeling reciprocated? Do they bring us peace? Do they strengthen our faith? Butterflies don’t make a marriage, and attraction can only sustain a healthy relationship for so long.

3. Mum: We don’t control when we get married—that’s been decided by Allah. We need to “tie our camel” (do our part) and leave the rest in Allah’s hands. We should focus on what we can control, not on what we don’t know when or how will happen.

In the journey of finding “the one,” it’s essential to trust in Allah’s plan, focus on self-improvement, prioritise character over fleeting emotions, and maintain a balance between taking action and having faith—remembering that the right person will come at the right time, as ordained by our Creator. by @dailyreminderss____

Society dictates what beauty is, but beauty is subjective. Allah created us in different shapes and colors for a reason. Allah only creates perfection, and so His creation is perfect. We are His proof of perfection. He could have made us all the same, but He didn’t. Why? Because beauty includes not only your outer appearance but also your virtues, etiquette, and beliefs.

My journey to believing I am beautiful and loving my body has not been easy. I still have days where I feel awful. But a few things have helped me truly love the body Allah created for me:

1. Self-affirmation. It was difficult at first, but I would write down three things I loved about myself; one had to be a feature I loved. I would then look in the mirror and say those three things (I know this sounds lame, but it worked for me). Each day, I believed the words more.

2. Your Cheerleaders. I was blessed with friends who showered me with compliments and reminded me of how gorgeous and sexy I am. Find people who tell you how beautiful you are. It can be friends, family, or your spouse.

3. Find your outfit. Find that one outfit that makes you feel sexy; mine was a brown leather skirt. Now it’s my cream blouse and black satin dress. This outfit is about YOU feeling good about yourself, not what others think. But I’ve learned that when you feel good about yourself, others notice your glow and comment on it.

These three things helped me on my journey of self-love. To all my girls, remember you are God’s perfection. You are beautiful. You are sexy. You are perfect the way you are. To all the moms, you are just as beautiful as you were before your baby. Yes, our bodies change through different stages of life, but that doesn’t mean you are any less beautiful than a few years ago. Love the body Allah created for you. by @dailyreminderss____

Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the countless duas I’ve made over the past few years. Some have been answered promptly, some delayed, and others were not accepted until recently. The main theme that emerges when contemplating these outcomes is timing.

I’m grateful that certain duas, such as my plea at 16 for a loving sisterhood, were not immediately granted. I had to experience other friendships, make mistakes, and develop as a person to truly appreciate the sisterhood I now have. May Allah bless my sisters. I hold immense love for you all in my heart and soul.

Our delays often contain hidden blessings. Allah, who knows our future and capabilities better than we ever could, sometimes delays our prayers for good reason. So for those brothers and sisters who have been praying for years and are still waiting for their duas to be answered, it’s possible that Allah wants you to devote your heart to Him alone first. When He finally grants your requests, you might not only reap numerous blessings in your life but also find yourself closer to Him.

Timing is everything. It provides perspective, fosters gratitude for our blessings, and encourages character development. by @dailyreminderss____

In the quest for spiritual elevation and closeness to the Divine, the concept of Taqwa, or God-consciousness, holds paramount importance in Islam. Taqwa is not merely a superficial display of piety but a deep-rooted awareness of Allah’s presence, guiding one’s actions and intentions towards righteousness. In this article, we will explore practical steps to increase in Taqwa and reap its manifold benefits.

Taqwa encompasses various dimensions, including fear of Allah, avoidance of sin, and cultivation of good character. It’s a holistic approach to living a life that is pleasing to the Almighty. As Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) elucidated, Taqwa is akin to navigating a thorny path with caution, symbolising vigilance and mindfulness in avoiding pitfalls that lead one away from Allah.

The journey of Taqwa unfolds in the worldly realm, where believers remain vigilant against distractions and temptations that divert them from the straight path. While fear of Allah serves as a guiding principle, it is balanced by hope in His mercy, motivating believers to seek forgiveness and rectify their deeds. by @dailyreminderss____
