Honored feels too small a word to describe how it feels to be one of the artists on @cultured_mag 2025 Young Artists List.

I wish I could cup my own face into my hands five years ago and show them this moment as proof that the work they’re doing in a small corner of their childhood bedroom would lead to recognition like this. That, one day, the word artist won’t sound so foreign in their mouth or out of the mouths that adorn them with the title.

I wouldn’t have been able to do any of it without the steadfast support I’ve received from all the people that called me an artist before I thought I had the right to be one. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

Screenprints on glass.

Opaque images on floating frames alight with detail once light is shone upon them— an image obscured becomes a detailed shadow, more clear and solid than the object itself despite its weightlessness.

Colors of Monson, Maine.

Sitting at the airport after my residency @monson_arts and reveling over all that I found here — an orange love seat that I took an afternoon nap in almost everyday, pounds of pounds of stained glass, the sights of sounds of small town suburbia, homemade apple pie cream brûlée, artist and writers that opened doors within me I didn’t know were there,

so many new, healing friendships I hope lasts well into our next lives— with the water, with the trees, and with new people. by @daintyfunk

TOMORROW.

Blue Dark and the Shape of Me opens at Compton Goethals Gallery tomorrow morning~

This first piece, “Untitled: Slide #1,” features a glass panel with a screen printed image that casts two shadows on a white sheet when spotlights are shone upon it. The shadow image becomes distorted and abstract, like something else entirely. When walked in front of, this piece also illuminates shadows of onlookers, distorted and alien like strange creatures of the night…

In a few short weeks, I will be presenting “A Yawn, A Scream, An Opening of the Mouth,” an immersive video installation and performance.

I’ve added several showings to the day of the closing reception —visibility in the planetarium is low towards the front rows so if you’d like to see the show please consider RSVPing in the link in my story/bio! Tickets are free and will help ensure that everyone’s viewing experience is as ideal as possible!

Thank you to @luizf_mb for filming me on the Xbox Kinect and @meglews for curating the perfect audio for this experience.

Thank you to @babe.adams for capturing our first full dress rehearsal in the space~

The last performance will be at 530P at the Marshak Science Building in the Planetarium.

See you there!!

Next month, after two years pursuing my Digital Interdisciplinary Art Practice MFA at City College of New York, I will be presenting my very first solo show — Blue Dark and in the Shape of Me.

Prepping for this thesis show has been a humbling process. I am so incredibly grateful for my cohort, the faculty, and all the friends and family who have encouraged me to keep the faith when art making felt futile and unimportant. When the world is on fire, it is hard to find much of anything worth doing. But I know, without a shadow of a doubt, this has been worth everything and more.

On April 24th, I will performing in the on campus planetarium — one of three planetariums in Manhattan. If there’s only one day out of this week you can come, please let it be that one!

Thank you for your continued support. Excited to share everything with you all :)
