This weekend marks 10 years that I’ve been having fun @johnbrownunderground. I’m so proud of what I’ve built here alongside many talented friends and peers.

Making stuff for you is a privilege and I’m grateful every day for the chance to earn it.

I’m sure I’ll see you soon 🫶🏻 by @daiquiri.king

We used to dream about opening the list of James Beard semifinalists and seeing our names there, like the bartending version of the fantasy of hitting a walk-off grand slam, or getting a golden ticket in the mail.

A few weeks ago, it really happened, just like that. I’m still stunned, but mostly I’m deeply humbled and honored.

For 8 years I’ve felt like I must’ve lived every possible kind of day, and still this place and this world surprise and frustrate and excite me. All I can do is believe in those around me, and that’s what I wanted to write about in our @beardfoundation impact statement, which you may swipe to read if you’d like. 🫶🏻

I am SO looking forward for spending the weekend in KCMO & Lawrence and getting to see old friends. If you’re that area, we’ve got two things happening:

Sunday night Punch Party at @fernbarkc
Monday night Rum Tasting at @johnbrownunderground

Hit them up, make a reservation, see you sooooooon! <3
