#Ad So this is 58. If you thought I wasn’t going to use my birthday to promote my new book, you have underestimated me. I’m proud that I’ve made it through another tough year (thank you to my incredible friends who have sometimes pushed, sometimes pulled me through and of course to my children who will forever be my greatest achievement) and I’m super proud to have been a part of no fewer than five other books that will have been published by the end of this year, with another three in progress, but this one is all me so it’s incredibly special to me. #YearOfYou #52Nudges #JournalPrompts #StockingFiller #SecretSantaGift by @daisyhollands

The Vivid Dreamer By Tina Sharp
Bookstagram Tour: 12th - 16th October
Genre: Non-fiction
Pages: 348
Publisher: The Unbound Press

First of all I am so sorry this review is a little later than planned. Instagram was not playing nice yesterday. I had two reviews to post and Instagram wasn’t having any of it. I managed to force post one just before midnight and then ironically fell asleep! So here I am, a few hours late and very apologetic.

This was such an interesting and intriguing book. It’s not one you’d read from cover to cover (although that’s exactly what I did this time), it’s more a reference book that you could dip in and out of, looking for the section that resonated most with you or applied best to your situation. It does contain references as well so you can continue your education but there is a wealth of knowledge here to help you understand and interpret your dreams, including exercises with each chapter to help you garner understanding. If you, like me, dream vividly and this often leaves you perplexed or unsettled then you should get yourself a copy of this book. Highly recommended. I found it useful and really enjoyed Tina’s own spiritual journey. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram Blurb and author bio in comments. by @daisyhollands

For a long time now, I have said “you can take the girl out of the 80s, but you can’t take the 80s out of the girl” and that holds true to this day. A Wham! fan from the very beginning, I remember the whole China experience with staggering clarity even after all this time. I bought the video on the day it was released and played it so many times I almost wore it out. So for me this was a truly fascinating behind the scenes look at one of mv favourite bands in the best decade musically. Overall I found the audiobook really enlightening and the stories were recounted in a warm friendly manner. However, I can’t lie, some of the language and phrasing used made me particularly uncomfortable. I know it’s of its time and is no doubt an honest retelling. but I also think that on the other hand, times and standards change and maybe it should have been recorded with 21st century audiences in mind. When we know better we do better and all that. I don’t want that to detract from what a fun and entertaining memoir this was though. Very enjoyable. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram by @daisyhollands

The Weapon and the Fruit: Any Body Can Murder by LE Bendon
Genre: Mystery
Pages: 337
Publisher: Aneurysm Cupcake

I hadn’t noticed the clock had tipped over into tomorrow - sorry I’m late!

Absolutely thrilled to be back in the company of Robert Prawn (IYKYK), the delightful oddity, the barefoot detective for another cosy (ish) mystery.

As I’ve said before, I love, love, love the writing style of this author and Lance (okay okay I’ll call him by his real name) is such a satisfying character. Full of quirks and foibles (think Monk, without shoes. I know Monk would never go outside without shoes. Humour me) but with a quick wit and an analytical mind. Much like the first book, there is a mystery and murder (plural. Murders) to be solved. It always feels like a race against time. I’m reading fast because I need to know what happens. Will I work it out before I get to the reveal? (Spoiler alert - I did not!) In some ways the plot is slightly darker this time around but the supporting cast are en pointe as ever and the story is paced brilliantly. An awesome read - can’t wait for book 3. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram blurb and author bio in comments. by @daisyhollands

Bad Winner by Frankie Chase
UK Bookstagram Tour: 7th - 13th October
Genre: Thriller
Pages: 408
Publisher: Troubadour

Well, I devoured this book. I loved everything about it from the cover to the plot to the pacing to the characters. I finished it so quickly because I just didn’t want to put it down, I had to keep reading. It’s smart and witty with the perfect amount of jeopardy and uncertainty to keep your heart racing a bit faster than is comfortable. Bea is an absolute legend. I love her. If you like Black Mirror and Tales of the Unexpected (you’ll need to be of a certain age to pick up on that particular reference) and (stick with me on this one) The Cornetto Trilogy (for its dark, dark humour and clever plots) then this should be your next read. Loved it. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram

Well. What a read that was. What a way to end the series. Talk about going out with a bang! I’m just going to have to sit with this for a while and think about it.

So it’s been a hot minute since I read the first two books, and the author has just tipped us head first into the third volume. The characters soon came flooding back as the familiarity set in. I feel like as well as the characters having grown, the writing has developed and matured in the space between books two and three. It was always good but now everything - the plot, the battles, the gore, the emotions - is just that bit more. It was a chunky read for sure, almost 600 pages but it didn’t feel like it because it’s so immersive and all encompassing. A fitting end to a fabulous series. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram blurb and author bio in the comments by @daisyhollands

Out of the Shadows by Nikki Laycy
Bookstagram Tour: 5th - 13th October (no weekends)
Genre: Memoir | Spirituality
Pages: 249
Publisher: ShieldCrest Publishing, Promoted by Cameron Publicity & Marketing

It made me smile that a few days ago I received a book called Into the Darkness and today I’m bringing you one called Out of the Shadows.

That is a very appropriate title for this memoir. What a life this author has lived and here she shares it with us - everything she’s been through to become the most authentic and honest version of herself possible. It’s a story that resonates hard with me and Nikki has recounted it all so eloquently. It takes bravery and courage to stand up and say “this is me” particularly when you don’t have the support of your family. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. To me it was a moving emotional read and I am filled with admiration for Nikki and the path she has taken. More people should follow their heart and work on feel. What feels right. What feels real. A fascinating read. a moment for the cover if I may which is absolutely beautiful. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram

My story recounts the profound personal journey I went on in my quest to become a spiritual medium. From a very young age, I faced significant challenges that tested my resilience and shaped my empathic abilities. These personal and emotional battles were not merely obstacles; they were crucibles that transformed my understanding of myself and the world around me.
For nearly four decades, I navigated through a myriad of life experiences—each one a stepping stone leading me closer to my true calling. This path was fraught with turmoil, yet it was also rich with lessons that deepened my connection to the spiritual realm. The struggles I endured were instrumental in honing my intuitive gifts and igniting in me a passion for helping others. by @daisyhollands

The Call: Book 1 of The Magnustra Chronicles by Dr Narinder Dhandsa
Bookstagram Tour: 5th - 13th October (no weekends)
Genre: YA | Sci-fi | 14+
Publisher: Troubador Books

First of all I want to make clear that I am obviously not the target audience for this book. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it - I did - but just bear in mind that it isn’t aimed at me.

Check the cover! Very unique and unusual and I think it suits the story really well.

Now onto the story. It was an average sized book coming in at just over 300 pages so it didn’t take me too long to get through it. It is heavy on the sci-fi and the scientific language so some concentration is needed.

I couldn’t make the maths work between the date of the prologue and the date of the first chapter - I’m still trying to parse that one. I’m sure it does make sense but I couldn’t quite fathom it.

The main character - Phia, a fifteen year old girl - is extremely mature and smart with it. It was exciting to follow her journey as the story progressed. It’s an adventure packed with science and technology and makes for a gripping tale.

Although this is essentially a YA novel I think it would be best suited to the 16-20 age group. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram Blurb and author bio in comments. by @daisyhollands

Exit Strategy by M E Wright (By Her Hand book 1)
Bookstagram Tour: 30th September - 4th October
Genre: Political | Thriller |Mystery
Pages: 253
Publisher: Merrywidow Publishing LLC

Wow this is a gripping and timely read. With the way things are politically in the world right now, some of this story feels extremely realistic. Too realistic really!

MacKenzie is an unforgettable main character and her story is one the reader feels fully immersed in. The writing is gritty, brutal in places but I just had to keep reading. I was thrilled to know this is the first book in a series and I am eagerly awaiting what is coming next from this author. A solid read but please check content and trigger warnings as some emotive topics are covered. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram Blurb and author bio in comments. by @daisyhollands

Always, Galway By Steve McCarthy (The Galway Girl #3)
Bookstagram Tour: 1st - 7th October (no weekends)
Genre: Contemporary Romance | Romance
Pages: 259
Publisher: Steve McCarthy Creative

So … we are back with Tom and Niamh for the third and final part of this trilogy. With each instalment the story has felt deeper and more emotional. It’s rare to happen upon a love story when both parties are not in their first flush of youth - of course, they were in the first book - but now the years and their lives have caught up with them in an all too relatable way. These characters are familiar - it’s like running into old friends and hearing all their news since the last time we met. The writing as ever is beautiful and heartfelt and if the story had to come to an end (as all good tales must) then this was a fitting and moving way to bring the curtain down. Beautiful book, wonderful series. Don’t miss out on this. #LBTCrew Blurb and author details in the comments. by @daisyhollands

The Christmas Star by Suzie Tullett
7-day Bookstagram Tour: 1st - 9th October (no weekends)
Genre: Romance | Second Chance | Christmas
Pages:  247
Publisher: Bloodhound Books

Absolutely delighted to be kicking off the tour for the fabulously festive novel.

Firstly a moment for the cover. How pretty?? Everyone knows I am far from a fan of the snow in real life - can’t walk in it, won’t drive in it - but I can appreciate it on a book cover and as part of a story, which it is here.

Erin, the main character is so relatable. I felt pity and admiration for her in equal measure. Her life situations and tribulations had me feeling very sorry for her but my goodness her strength and resilience were something to behold. I loved that we were privy to her innermost thoughts thought as well.

To be honest, for me, this is a character-driven story. Each of the people we encounter is extremely well-written and their personalities leap off the page. Who hasn’t had a boss like Rory to contend with?

I don’t want to say too much about the actual plot because I wouldn’t want to give away any spoilers but let’s just say it unfolded beautifully. I was completely immersed and didn’t want to stop reading. I would love for there to be more books about Settledown (great name by the way) and its residents.

In summary - I loved it. It’s a real privilege to have been able to read this delicious story and if you want to get into your family feels in time for Christmas then this is the book you need. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram Blurb and author bio in comments. by @daisyhollands

Humble Glory by Dodge Merrin (Quiet Valor book 1)
Bookstagram Tour: 28th September - 1st October
Genre: Epic Fantasy | Paranormal
Pages: 238

This book was a step outside my comfort zone but something about the blurb appealed to me - a strong, proud man having to come to terms with realising his flaws and weaknesses and the ensuing battle of heart and head dealing with that. The writing is solid, very descriptive making it easy to picture. The fight scenes are particularly vivid and well written, tense in places.

The story moves at a good pace and definitely keeps the reader invested. The characters are all very well rounded and believable, the lead, Raldus Velix in particular stands out. An engrossing enjoyable read. #LBTCrew #Bookstagram Blurb and author bio on comments. by @daisyhollands
