Very delighted to have two works participating in the group show. All welcome. Exhibition: Rooms in Rehearsal. Venue: XVX, 72 Compton Street, London EC1V 0BN Private View: Thursday 24 September 2026, 6 – 9pm Exhibition dates: 24 September – 5 November 2026 Curated by: Faithe Yang @faithe_yang Rooms in Rehearsal brings together four artists who have relocated to London from China, Bulgaria and Canada. Each of their lives and practices has, at some point, been interrupted and then restarted in different cities and across different institutions. However, such geographic displacement has not become the narrative subject of their works. It has entered the way the paintings produce space. Through producing space, these artists examine the recurrence of ruptures in their lives. It was a great honour to be invited back as a guest speaker to @RCA Painting recently. The Temporal Materials Seminar, where I shared my research on plant dyes/ pigments with the current RCA cohort, was a truly inspiring event. Collaborating with @jesseash100 @LEX_LOU_STUDIO was indeed a thought-provoking experience. It was enlivened especially by the Q&A and encountered many interests in furthering the research in environmental suitability, resilience and capability. I am very grateful @fibre_auarts, @joliebird, and Bill Morton; their support of my BFA study in textile, and my experimentation with natural materials were priceless. Thank you @jesseash100 for inviting me to the seminar and @LEX_LOU_STUDIO for taking these beautiful event pictures for me. by @daisyye19
Insolvent brings together painting and installation that explores slowness, hesitation, and inefficiency as forms of resistance. Made inside frictional lives – including artists from the Turps Studio Programme – the exhibition considers art-making as a stubbornly human and imperfect activity, rejecting the demands of productivity and depthless perfections. 1. Very delighted to show with the previous and current Turps colleagues, poping up@ Insolvent. Opening: 26th 4-6pm, closing party: 1st Oct 6-8pm. Very delighted to participate in this group show with my previous colleagues at Turps. Anaglypta—an embossed, patterned wallpaper once using in Victorian homes—was often used to veil the flaws beneath. The name dates from the late nineteenth century and derives from the Latin for “work in low relief” (Oxford Dictionary). This group show will come up on 18-20th September. PV: Friday 18th , 6-9pm. All welcome🙏 Participating Artists: @aineosborne_ @benedictjohnsonstudio @daisyye19 @emma_sefton_smith @hermionegraceread @jeremyscottstudio @leomacdonaldoulds @matthew_stickland @paulditchstudio @sean_whelan @markwoollam123 by @daisyye19
How to turn my art studio into a place of experimentation has always been a challenge. For the past two years, I have been struggled to work in the space between chaos and order, the controlled and the random, the visible and the invisible (of environmental forces). Perhaps that is why my colleagues often comment my studio too clean. If messiness is often perceived as the birthplace of creativity, then I wonder if cleanliness can also reveal a different type of creative condition—a clarity of thought, an attentiveness to process. Maybe this is the threshold where intuition meets logic, and assumption encounters proves.
